we are going to be talking about

probably one of the most important

topics in the bible and that is hearing

god now i’ve been a believer for over 35

years been in the ministry for about

that same amount of time started just

immediately sharing my testimony

but the number one question that i get

asked everywhere at my own church when i

travel and speak number one question

is how can i hear god

how can i hear god and how can i know

that it’s god

how can i know it’s not my thoughts or

um how can i know it’s not the devil

speaking to me how can i hear god so i

want to share with you a message today

uh from a book that i wrote called

frequency tune in hear god and so today

here’s the first message we’re going to

talk about the the beauty

of being sheep

the beauty of being a sheep now

i don’t know if you have ever thought

about this but

you’re a sheep

okay your sheep

matter of fact once you if you’re

watching if you’re sitting here in the

studio or maybe if you’re watching home

with someone else just turn to the

person beside you find someone and say

i’m a sheep

okay now now you can say to you can say

to that other person so that’s what i

smell

so uh if you have your bibles i’m going

to be in john 10 today we’ll be in some

other scripture as well but we’re going

to start in john chapter 10

and we’re going to talk about

hearing god from the perspective that

we’re she

he’s our shepherd and we’re sheep and

god speaks to sheep and it’s very clear

in scripture i want you to think about

something though as we talk about

hearing god uh what what is the main

difference

between a believer and an unbeliever

i mean think about that question what’s

the main difference well obviously the

main difference is the believer has a

personal

relationship with jesus christ right

okay but

there are some

theological

thoughts

that god doesn’t speak anymore

that god said everything that he was

going to say in the bible

and that he doesn’t speak today well

i have a problem with that

we tell people you can have a personal

relationship

with a communicative god

but he doesn’t speak anymore

that’s that’s sad wouldn’t that be sad i

mean dallas willard willard says the

greatest disservice we could ever do to

someone

is to tell that person that he can have

a personal relationship with god

and then tell the person that god

doesn’t speak today i mean how personal

is that

so god really speaks so what we think

about a believer and unbeliever

praying about a job

well you gather facts you think about

the company you think about the city

where the company’s located where you’re

going to be living the schools you’ll do

research on that

what’s the difference in how you make a

decision and how an unbeliever make a

decision well the difference is you can

pray about it

but not just

talk to god there’s a second half of

prayer

right

that’s hearing god

sensing his will sensing his direction

so that’s what we want to talk about is

that we can

hear god so john chapter 10 verse 1

most assuredly i say to you he who does

not enter the sheepfold by the door and

we know jesus is the door

but climbs up some other way the same is

a thief and a robber obviously we know

from chap verse 10 the thief is satan

but he who enters by the door is the

shepherd of the sheep

that’s jesus to him the doorkeeper opens

and the sheep watch this

hear

his

voice

now it doesn’t say

sense his impressions

and i do believe god gives us

impressions

but that’s

just not the wording here jesus said

hears his

voice

and he calls his own sheep by name

and leads them out and when he brings

out his own sheep this is verse 4 he

goes before them and the sheep follow

him for they know

his

voice

so it’s really clear in scripture and

then verse 16 he says and other sheep i

have which are not of this fold now let

me just clear this theologically he’s

speaking to jews

and he’s talking now about gentiles

and that’s that’s really good for most

of us

we may have a jewish person here you

might be jewish watching but most of us

are gentiles so he’s saying including so

i want to talk about can we hear his

voice because he’s talking to jewish

people and gentiles didn’t come into the

kingdom

really the gospel isn’t taking them

until later in acts after

the ascension

so if jesus quit speaking

we’re in trouble but he’s specifically

talking down but gentiles watch this and

other sheep i have which are not of this

fold they’re not jewish

them also i must bring watch and they

will hear

voice

and there will be one flock and one

shepherd and then verse 27 makes it

really clear my sheep

what’s it say

hear my voice

my sheep hear my voice and they follow

so it’s clear in scripture so let me

tell you uh three things about hearing

god’s voice because we’re sheep the

beauty of being a sheep all right here

here’s number one it’s innate

it’s in a in other words we’re born with

uh where it’s hardwired into our system

it’s it’s built in it’s natural

it’s instinct

for god’s sheep to be able to hear the

shepherd well

i think

i said a little bit at the beginning but

why would god create us

with the ability to communicate

and then not communicate with us

okay

again i’m not trying to put someone down

that has that belief but

that’s baloney

balogna in the green okay

i mean what separates us from the

animals you say well they say animals

can communicate well sure they can to

some degree but they can’t communicate

like we can

we were created in the image of a

speaking god okay if you have a dog go

home and talk to your dog

but i want you to do it this way i want

you to say something to him but i want

your voice to be different i want you to

say this you know you’re so stupid yes

you are

you’re the stupidest dog i’ve ever seen

yes you are and that dog will just jump

up and down wag his tail i think you

paid him the greatest compliment in the

world right

but he can’t communicate with you

well we can communicate we were created

with the ability to communicate

not just to speak to god

but for god to speak with us

you know i was just thinking about

dogs

i just i gotta just take the off for a

minute about this but have you ever had

a dog that barked all night

shut up

and what do you expect the dog to do my

bad

[Laughter]

because i can’t

communicate so it’s innate god created

you with the ability to communicate not

just other humans

but to him

and him to you

because

my sheep

hear my voice

the only requirement

to hearing god’s voice is to be a sheep

because he says clearly my sheep hear my

voice so it’s innate here’s here’s

number two it’s it’s learned

it’s it’s learned

you say well

why why would we have to learn to hear

god

well we have to learn to pray

we have to learn to talk to god the

disciples said to jesus teach us to pray

and then we have the lord’s prayer he

taught them to pray

and let’s just use the natural example

of communicating on this earth we have

to learn to communicate we have to learn

to talk

right you didn’t start out speaking

uh full sentences

when you first started speaking you you

started with mama or dada or

mine you know that’s another word

children learn pretty early mine mine

mine okay so we have to teach our

children how to communicate

so why would we not have to learn

how to pray we have to learn whatever

your spiritual gift is you have to learn

to operate in your spiritual gift

so we’re all learning we’re we’re all

growing

was taught to hear god by eli

he heard this voice

he goes to eli and says did you call me

because i didn’t call you

three times and then eli says it’s the

lord

next time

when you hear

that voice you say speak lord for your

servants listen

we have a

a man in our church

that

is the general manager

and

uh part owner of texas motor speedway

uh his name is eddie gossage and i’ve

asked eddie if i could use this example

he and another man are uh owners of

eight national speedways around the the

country

that where you have nascar and things

like that so eddie comes to our church

and asked me to go to lunch with him and

so we went to lunch one day and we’re

talking and he said

pastor i i need you to help me with

something and i said okay how can i help

you

and he said well you talk about that the

lord told me this and the lord told me

that and he said i um

i don’t know how to hear god

if you could help me if you could teach

me if i could learn to hear god that

would be great

and so i said to him well um and i’m

gonna we’ll go into this in a lot of

depth as i do other messages on this

but i said to him okay here’s some

things i want you i want you get alone

with god

i want you to put on some worship music

so that your mind can focus and get off

of everything else you have to do focus

on god

um i want you to pray talk to god about

what’s on your heart give him your

burdens for the day it’s hard to hear

god when you’re burdened about something

so you have to give it to him prayer is

an exchange of the burden

if you pray and you’re still burdened

then you didn’t pray you just griped

prayer is when you give him the burden

okay and then i said to him i want you

to read somewhere in scripture and

then i want you to write down what you

think god is saying to you

through that scripture

and i i know that the scripture has

a contextual meaning i know it has a

historical meaning

that’s that’s where we get the word

exegete it comes from a greek word and

it means to draw out like you draw water

out of the well so there’s a contextual

exegesis a historical exegesis

a literal exegesis there’s even a

revelational exegesis holy spirit since

god’s word is alive what are you saying

to me

so that’s what we’re that’s what i’m

asking you to do so he began to do that

and a few months later we got back

together for lunch and

he said i want to tell you something and

i remember there was this big smile on

his face and he looked at me and said

i’m hearing god

i’m doing what you said

and i’m writing down what i believe god

is saying to me and he said many many

times what i wrote down is exactly what

i needed for that day

and

i think a lot of us have had that

experience

where god’s led us to a scripture and we

needed that scripture that’s god

speaking to us

so um

point number one it’s innate and when i

say it i’m talking about the ability to

hear god so the ability to hear god is

innate in other words we’re born again

with it

it’s learned so we learn how to hear god

like we go to classes at church and we

learn about hearing god

or our spiritual gift but number three

is it’s matured

in other words we mature in the gift

so let me go back to the illustration of

children learning to speak but they also

have to mature in what they say when you

think about it a child will say

i mean whatever comes out just whatever

comes to his mind like

man that guy’s fat you know we say no no

we don’t we don’t say that you know we

don’t tell people they’re fat

uh or here’s one how old are you grandma

we don’t ask grandma how old she is

nobody knows how old grandma is

we just know that she knew noah but we

don’t know how old she is

okay

so so we have to mature in in it so let

me let me tell you a few

ways that i think

a few ways that people talk about

hearing god that i think they’re

immature okay

one of those is a message a minute

now this is those are dallas wil

willard’s word

from a book he wrote called hearing god

but i like the way he said it a message

a minute

you’ve probably been around people like

this they’re always hearing god

god just told me not to put salt on my

food

well you you could have read readers

digest last month and figure that out

you know

so god told me this god told me that

okay well think about that even now when

we talk about relationship

do we want god speaking to us all the

time yes when we talk about relationship

but when we talk about instruction or

even correction

do you want god speaking to you all the

time now hold on uh let’s again take

children

uh do you want to still be giving your

children instruction

every day when they’re 40

i mean don’t you want to mature

yeah so yes god wants to communicate

with us

but this you know you know god

which which which way do i turn here you

know every street you know i mean turn

your gps song come on you know

mature in it that that’s what i’m saying

so it we have to mature so this message

a minute thing i just i don’t think

that’s the

best way that’s not the mature way to

hear god here’s another way is i call it

the point and hope philosophy

now you’ve heard this

people say well when i want a word from

god

i just open the bible close my eyes

and point

okay well

that might work

every now and then it might

uh but i have a friend of mine that was

um his business was struggling and he’d

heard someone say that so he thought

okay i need a word about my business so

he closed his eyes he did his bible put

his finger down he looked down and said

chapter 11.

the other thing as

i’ve told you about dallas willard

because i read his book and one of the

things he said in there was that he

heard this uh preacher one time say that

god has a life verse

for every person and the way you find

out what your life verse is is the year

you were born

well there’s a couple of problems with

that most people were born 19 something

and when you go to the 19th chapter of

every book of the bible that has 19

chapters some don’t even have 19

chapters the highest verse

is joshua chapter 19 verse 51.

that’s the highest verse so if you were

born after 1951

no life verse for you

you know

uh and but but uh dallas was born in um

1935. so he thought well i’m gonna see

what my life verse is he just went to

the first book of the bible genesis 19

35 says so they got drunk and slept with

him

that’s his life verse okay so there are

more mature ways to hear god here’s the

third immature way i think of hearing

god is what i call the quesara sarah

philosophy

question was written by an american we

don’t know if he took it from spanish or

italian it actually doesn’t work in

either language but

what his translation is whatever will be

will be

you know if you’re my age or older you

remember doris day he used to sing that

song whatever will be will be well

there’s a problem with that saying that

that’s god’s voice

because we make mistakes

and whatever you choose is not always

god speaking to you there’s the human

element involved there’s the human will

so you have to come to the place

where

you learn to hear god but here’s the

great news you can

because you’re a sheep you were born

with disabilities

so let me tell you something happened to

me recently

it was earlier this year

i have three grown and married children

and my

son middle child son and his wife have

two boys and they were praying about

whether to try for another child for a

girl

the reason they were praying is because

she’d had difficult pregnancies and they

had had two miscarriages

and so they were praying and we did a 21

day fast at the first of the year

and fast however god leads you you know

things like that so some people are

doing vegetables only or some did all

the way to water but some just whatever

well she prayed

and said god if we’re supposed to have

another child

have someone give me a word who’s close

to us

during this 21 days

so we did our fast january 10th through

january 31st

so on january 31st it was a sunday i’m

standing there about to speak and she’s

on the worship team

and i look up her name’s bridget and the

lord said to me

bridget’s pregnant

just like that

and that night we were having like a

family meal you know everyone come

together at my house

and so i said hey i have an announcement

to make

[Laughter]

and they were like uh really you know uh

so what’s your announcement and i said

uh bridgette’s pregnant

and they everyone kind of laughed you

know and james my son and bridget they

say hahaha are you serious

i said yeah i’m serious bridget is

pregnant the lord told me this morning

bridget’s pregnant

and i could see

the look on her face because she had

asked god for someone close

to them

to give them a word and this was the

last day of the fast and we were

actually breaking the fast at this meal

that night you know

and um

so james my son said well she’s not

pregnant

she’s i can just say right now she’s not

pregnant it’s impossible she’s just

she’s not pregnant and i said well um

she is pregnant

and he said well she’s not pregnant she

i said well she’s pregnant because i

don’t care what you say god said she’s

pregnant so she’s pregnant

well it was so strong they even got with

me later before they left the house they

said

how serious are you about this

well some various years god said she’s

pregnant

and james said well she hammer prayed

she’s not pregnant i said well she has

sprayed it

and

so because it was so strong they decided

to go to the doctor now on the way home

by the way she told james my uh son she

said about her prayer she said i was

praying that if i was we were having

another child someone give us a word

who’s close to us

during the 21 days and james said why

did you pray that you know

i said you you know my dad and you know

so why would you do that so they go to

the doctor well the doctor says well

she’s not pregnant uh as a matter of

fact she she could not get pregnant

right now because her progesterone is so

low she couldn’t get pregnant it’d be

medically impossible now that’s the

reason she had the two miscarriages is

because her her progesterone was so low

and so they decided since your dad’s got

this word and it’s so strong

we should start he said if you’re even

thinking about you should start taking

progesterone so they started taking

progesterone then that day

they went back about a month later to

check her levels

and the doctor came in and said uh

you’re pregnant

and they said really and uh he said yeah

and uh when you came to see me last time

apparently you were pregnant then

uh and so they counted up because you

know you can count the days there she

was had been she was pregnant at that

time four weeks and six days and i gave

her the word

four weeks and

five days before she’d been praying one

day now it’s great that god spoke that

word but

here’s what’s amazing god spoke that

word to save that baby’s life

because she started taking the medicine

that’s a it’s a natural hormone that

your body should produce that her body

was not producing

i’m just telling you god speaks

here’s what i’d like for you i’d like

you just to close your eyes just for a

moment and if you’re watching home just

just close your eyes for a minute i want

you to just pray a very short but very

simple prayer

say lord thank you that i’m a

sheep just tell him that in your heart

and thank you

that you

as the shepherd speak

to sheep

and lord i pray that all of us

will realize we have the ability to hear

you

and we will learn and mature

in hearing god

in jesus name

amen

is this subject matter

something that is

really important it is important because

this facet of our faith is what

separates our faith from every other

so-called faith on the face of the earth

okay that our god lives he’s alive and

he speaks to us we have an actual

relationship with him and that that’s so

casually thrown around this whole

relationship thing but what good is any

relationship if nobody’s talking to each

other if there’s no communication if

there’s not um a connectedness that is

ongoing and continual so this issue of

discerning the voice of god first of all

believing that he does speak but second

of all trusting in the fact that as his

kids we have the privilege to actually

discern

and just have a distinction of his voice

between all the other voices that also

want to get a word in edgewise that’s

something that really can change and

transform the trajectory of your entire

christian experience okay let’s let’s

lay a little bit of the ground rule in

your in your world we’re you’re our

guest today you and jerry

uh jerry jump in anytime you want to

you’re much bigger than i am you can

jump in any time you want it

and you know you’re a miracle worker

that you got him on the show jerry

doesn’t want my buddy come on i know

y’all are bad you guys you’re just going

to have a good time

we’re going to we’re going to discern

the voice of god let me ask you a

question in the priscilla

jerry world

yeah uh does god speak audibly

does he only speak through his word does

he speak how how what are the different

ways

that you certainly know of that god

speaks to you

um i’ve never heard the audible voice of

god babe have you i missed something i

have not

no not yet but i think there is

something internal yeah

in you that you that you feel the

presence of god and it lines up with

scripture which confirms okay

this is what i’m hearing that’s right so

the holy spirit of god illumines

scripture the book is alive and he

causes the the old presets of scripture

to have a nowness and a newness that

applies and intersects with our personal

experience so as jerry mentioned the

holy spirit in us

confirms and corroborates and connects

with the the word of god and causes it

to intersect with our experience so that

that verse that has something to do with

david and goliath all of a sudden it’s

not about david and goliath it actually

applies to what you’re facing right then

in your life and you understand it as a

directive straight straight from god and

then there’s the conviction you know the

conviction of the holy spirit that that

green light of ease and peace that says

that that yellow light of warning and

uneasiness that says hold up a minute

till you get clarity and then that red

light that is a straight up no there’s

no peace there’s confusion there’s

dissension that’s the holy spirit’s way

of telling you no don’t go there there’s

a better yes for you if you’ll just wait

and be patient

have you ever heard the still small

voice of the lord in a phrase and an

impression what describes some of what

is in discerning the voice of god how

how the lord speaks or how this

conversation unfolds with you yes well

most of the time most of the time god

speaks to me through his word it is

exactly what i described it is reading

through a portion of scripture

and on that day it’s like the holy

spirit has taken out a highlighter and

has highlighted this verse you have seen

a million times before but on that day

it leaps up off the page and it grips

you that’s the only way i can really

describe it is that it grips you in the

depths of your soul and causes you to

pause for a moment because it seems to

be literally speaking to something

that’s happening in your life most of

the time that is the voice of god we

have discounted i think the power of

scripture because if we say we want to

hear from god and we never actually read

the love letter that he wrote to us we

don’t want to really hear from god and

we rarely will because the canon of

scripture is not only it not only

provides the boundary into which

everything god says to us will fall

because he’ll never say anything that

manipulates the scriptures or his

character as revealed in the scriptures

so it not only gives us the boundary but

it also provides for us the number one

mechanism through which we have the

privilege to hear them in the first

place

you know i i hate to be so secular but

remember that remember that that moment

in on tv back when we were kids do you

remember remember um the i dream of

genie where she’d kind of do like that

you know okay so

uh i have from one moment to the next i

mean this is like one heartbeat to the

next heartbeat

i’m remembering some kind of

conversation that was a longer

conversation for instance

and i felt like that was something that

got communicated to me a big subject

matter communicated to me in a blink

yeah

so what the voice of the lord sometimes

feels like to me is like i’m remembering

a conversation not like i’m talking

and and going

hello lord and he says well hello

matthew it’s nice to have you here with

me today yeah it’s been you know okay so

i’ve never had any kind of an experience

like that at all

every time i felt like

volumes of information get communicated

in a

in a snap of a finger and then it just

feels like you’re remembering when we’re

done with this conversation today

and we’re out of this studio we’ll be

able to remember this conversation

and we will be able to

ultimately

think back on it that’s that is a way

the lord has communicated i have heard

the still small voice say one word to me

or two words one time hillsong channel

six months later the hillsong channel

was on the air yeah okay uh we’re

sitting here today lori and i um

you know have often heard the story but

just just because of what we’re talking

about and i wanted to set a little bit

of the stage and by the way what a

thrill to have you guys seriously i mean

it’s been i know it’s like i’ve known

your parents and i was like what’s the

matter with us man i mean so we met

actually at t.d jakes church not long

ago he sat behind us and made us laugh

through the whole i’m sorry for that i

was cutting up and the kids thank you

for sharing thank you for that because

they were like okay when is this going

to be over

you realize you’re making fun of a td

jake service that’s okay

it was a fantastic service i put kids in

church for three hours they were yeah

they were glad matt was sitting uncle

matt was like that’s right

and just so that they wouldn’t freak out

i gave him a little money

kind of bribing them okay anyway

okay

so one of the the things that i think is

pretty interesting about discerning the

voice of god again it’s our love gift uh

this month

gift offer this month is my mom and dad

were working for somebody else in the

60s

it was a tv station

and after one very successful night they

were leaving the parking lot and the

lord said i’ve released you from your

work here

now my parents believe

it was almost like one of these moments

where you look in the back seat make

sure there’s somebody not in the back

seat

but they were in their car

and my dad

didn’t recall it as being an audible

voice but it might as well have been

because he looked at my mom and said

you’re not going to believe what the

lord just said to me and she said no i

will he said the same thing to me he’s

released us from our work here

very very unique thing they quit that

job

i’m 11 years old my dad doesn’t go to

work anymore

this is you know here in southern

california in the early 70s

and then a a few months later

praying

the lord

said had to say these words somehow

because

my dad heard call angel lerma it was a

gentleman that owned a tv station here

in socal

he called

and he said

to he said to angel he said i’m just

calling you today checking on your

channel

and there was a long pause on the phone

paul

i just came from the board room we just

had a board meeting just now

we just voted to sell this channel did

you know that

and he said no sir i didn’t know that

but based on that i’d like to come see

you

by the end of that day there was a deal

worked out which was the birth of tbn

which was this channel here in los

angeles channel 40. channels actually

changed now because of digital but that

was channel 40 back in the day

so here’s the here’s the thing we’re

sitting here today because of a couple

moments that the lord was wanting to

communicate to someone to see

if they would respond to it okay so now

40 something years later

we’re sitting here there’s 31 television

networks on the air

in 13 or 14 different languages

and we are literally ultimately uh now

communicating to the globe as we’re

sitting here okay yeah so

if everyone can

realize it’s kind of an important

subject that we’re talking about okay

okay and so if everybody moved on

something that god spoke to them there

it is you know

take another generation what would that

become what exactly god had done if we

would have obeyed that and we’ve had

that we’ve had that in all i’m thinking

about when we first got married babe

where you’ve had these these moments

where like you said there is almost like

a huge conversation that has already

happened and the wealth of it down it

just downloads to you in an instant um

and one of those things happened when we

were married for our very first year of

marriage very very sure what happened

we were at a a family reunion on my

father’s side of the family

and uh i remember one of my cousins said

jerry do you realize

that if you and priscilla don’t have any

boys the shiny name will die with you

i’m like

and i looked around i’m like wow

and at that moment i felt like laura

said to me

jerry you have nothing but boys

wow

and so i looked at priscilla and i told

her what i said you have nothing but

boys we have nothing but boys and

i remember when our first son was born

jackson a boy

uh the second son

jerry junior a boy

and it was so funny the third child

everybody you know

oh the way she’s carrying it it’s a girl

that it’s a girl

i’m like no it’s not it’s a boy and

everybody asked me how confident was i

that i knew that it was a boy wow and i

told him years ago the lord told me i

had nothing but boys because what he’s

doing

is starting a new generation wow of

shire men wow and uh i remember being in

the delivery room

and uh uh when when when jude was coming

out and his head was out

i said oh i bet you a thousand dollars

that’s a boy the doctor said we haven’t

seen everything yet i said if that’s a

girl she’s going to be with me for the

rest of her life that’s a boy

but you know what some of the details of

that that you have to know is that some

of the well most of the men in jerry’s

legacy

um did not live well they didn’t honor

god they didn’t stay with their wives

they didn’t honor their kids nothing and

so in that moment where he felt like the

lord said that to him he really felt

like the lord was saying i’m doing this

on purpose i’m going to generation i’m

going to change what it means to be a

shire man wow through this legacy and he

looked at me

just barely into our first year of

marriage and said we don’t have boys

god’s doing this on purpose and here we

are 18 years later with our three boys

and so we have high expectations that

god’s got a plan for that she does um

and you don’t have any plan for any more

kids we actually do not

you know she always says she always says

from this stage our youngest is jude

because that’s the closest she can get

the revelation because it is finished it

is finished that’s the end of the line

right there

oh gosh okay so

start us out on

because i know so many people wonder oh

you know how can i hear god’s voice for

ourselves and i will trust it or trust

or trust it how can i trust god’s voice

when i do hear it is that really him is

it me is it yeah

well let me let me just start by putting

a little grace over this entire

situation the reality is that sometimes

you do not know until hindsight that

what you heard was the voice of god

there you go and the reality is that

there is grace and mercy to cover our

missteps and that the lord in his

graciousness toward us his knowledge of

our frailty and our humanity for the

willing heart who desires to do his will

even when we make mistakes he allows

them to become our greatest teachers for

hearing him correctly in the future he

does not hold it against us because

we’ve misstepped along the way so um

just grace for those of us yes who have

ever heard god wrong

and um wish we could get it get it right

one of the people i sort of interviewed

when i was first writing that book many

you know over a decade ago uh now i

interviewed henry blackaby

who wrote experience in god yes and i

you know had my notebook out my pen i

was going to take a seminary class from

henry you know and i said how do you

know when you’re hearing god and he gave

me lots of incredible answers to that

question but really he summed it up this

way he said the more you know god the

more clearly you can hear god

there was really nothing for me to write

down because it boiled down to priscilla

it’s simple he said the more you know

him the more clearly you can hear him so

the reason why we go to the scriptures

the reason why we have quiet time the

reason why we fellowship with other

believers who are going to help us

remain encouraged in our faith is

because we’re just trying to get to know

god when you know his character

when you know um the nuances of what he

does say and what he wouldn’t say

because of how he spoke to our

forefathers because of how he handled

circumstances previously with people in

the scriptures who were going through

some of the same scenarios we’re going

through now when you see his personality

and his character then you know when you

hear the voice of fear that don’t sound

like my god when you hear the voice of

your ego pride jealousy divisiveness

stepping in all of that stuff that in

our flesh is also trying to get a word

in edgewise we can quickly quickly

pinpoint the voice of a stranger because

if we know god the more clearly we can

discern and just divide his voice from a

stranger okay now you talked about

seeking god’s provision and his

blessings on our life

and then knowing who

what his character is talk about that

because i found that fascinating yes so

god’s blessing um and i believe his

provisions are a corroboration of his

word to us so in other words while in

the old testament there were external

means as a primary way for folks to hear

god in the new testament and now in this

time frame as well we have something

they didn’t have we have the holy spirit

so the primary way he is speak to us

that he speaks to us has changed but his

goal hasn’t his goal is still for his

kids to hear his voice so he’s chosen

the holy spirit of god to be the the way

that we

uh hear and know what it is that his

will is for our life but he still uses

external means his provision his

blessings his aligning of providence

some people would call it luck or

coincidence no it’s the aligning of

god’s handiwork in our life to confirm

that what we’re sensing on the inside is

indeed how he’s aligning uh the

direction for our life to just fb meyer

is a great theologian put it this way

when a big uh 747 is getting ready to

land on a runway well well the plane

better not just be looking for one light

somewhere to land better not just look

for two lights somewhere to land there

better be several lights that are that

are lining a runway so that that 747

knows exactly where land the bigger the

decision that you have to make

the more you need to trust in the mercy

of god’s external confirmation that

aligns for you where to land that plane

in your life

um and and so that’s important that we

have external blessings provision

coincidence that really shows us the

sovereignty of god aligning i’ll give

you an example i was just telling you

guys before we started um aaron that i

that i started to to look at this

discerning the voice of god book the

material that we’ve been privileged to

be able to develop through the years on

the topic

and i just started you know how the lord

puts layers of maturity on a message the

more you grow in him aren’t we so

grateful that he lets us grow and mature

and learn from our mistakes and i

thought i was just starting to feel like

you know it might be time especially

with the the video series that we’ve

done in regards to this it was taped 11

years ago so it kind of looks dated now

and i thought we might need to do

something different with that at some

point this was going to be my lazy year

where i just kind of sat down and didn’t

write too much um but at the same time i

started to sense that on the inside

maybe we need to do that at some point

one of my publishers called to say you

know let’s redo the discerning the voice

of god bible study then the publisher of

this particular book called and said hey

you know what maybe we’re going to put a

re-face this and go ahead and freshen up

the material here and the new insights

that the lord has given you so there

were two things two lights there that

kind of corroborated what i was already

sensing on the inside and then matt and

lloyd crouch called and said you know

what priscilla we think that we would

love to offer this to to people who want

to know how to discern god’s leading

that third light wow

was the confirmation for me that what it

was i was sensing on the inside the lord

was very clear clearly giving me a light

bulb to let me know this would be his

direction for me which ultimately means

that discerning the voice of god is a

is on the heart of god when it comes to

this kind of discerning the voice of god

we’re unpacking this all hour with jerry

and priscilla shire

um i have a question uh

let me let me just let me let me say

this one thing when it pertains because

i want to jump off of something you’re

saying about marriage

i was running one day and the lord said

i didn’t call you

seem to be pointing at me okay this is

like a daydream this isn’t like you know

i mean it’s like you’re just trying not

just to sound weird i’m not sounding

weird because i don’t want to sound

weird uh but

it felt like the lord was pointing at me

with one finger you know i didn’t call

you i called you

and then he had two fingers pointing and

lori was next to me in this kind of

daydream yeah i knew i was running and i

was on the side of the road and all that

came home and told her

and and let me tell you something that

got more important

the years later that this happened 20

years ago

because i’ve always loved her but the

idea that he didn’t call me he called me

i didn’t call you i called you

and she’s there so i wouldn’t be the me

that god sees without her

and so that’s a good man right there

okay

so ultimately i have to remind him of

that on it no honestly

she doesn’t i’ve always known

that you know so let me tell you

bickering in marriage

pales to comparison of just making this

one statement if the lord said that to

me and he did

or i felt you know again it wasn’t this

conversation

then if i divorced her i wouldn’t be

divorcing her i’d be divorcing my

destiny

yeah now when in in light of that

who cares you know yeah what she looks

like what kind of what kind of

what kind of oh my god

yeah let’s go there immediately

so the i the idea that um you know the

voice of the lord changed my dynamic

about what marriage was

20 years ago or so

i’m different yeah you know i’m

different

why is it important to hear god because

it changes you percep change me

why is it that’s right

it does change you you know what it does

you know what it does yeah it ruins you

for church as usual

ruins you yeah that regular old mundane

christian rediverse day to keep the

devil away sit in church go because my

mama went my grandmother went this is

what we do

all of that goes away okay because

you’re hungering for what you know

you’ve experienced before actually

sensing the voice of god his presence

near you listen sometimes hearing god is

less about having a specific word and

more about just a nearness of his

presence

just knowing that he’s near i’m talking

about where your physical body responds

to the presence of god there are times

when you know he’s near because he’s

omnipresent there are times where he

manifests himself in a way where the the

hair on the back of your neck stands out

kind of fail goosebumps yes and in those

moments once you start sensing the

nearness of god in that way you’re

ruined for all just doing stuff because

it’s what you’re supposed to be doing

and you want more of that and i think

what a lot of people need to understand

and he also speaks through his silence

very much so you know i’m not saying

anything

you know think about the years in the

world where you know from the old to new

testament he was just silent yeah

and his silence means stay still don’t

move i got you yeah does somebody your

size ever feel goose bumps does that

ever happen to you ever

it is big you know you know i’m gonna

have goosebumps right now oh hey hey hey

hey hey hey yeah how much time we have

left in the show they’re needing to get

out okay um and by the way uh we’re

going to unpack this so get right back

into the suburban it’s an important

subject matter even the idea well way

the publisher and all that kind of stuff

this is a this is on the heart of god

right now this is the people being

dissatisfied with the mundane yeah we

are aren’t wanting to hear god’s voice

wanting to know

you know i don’t i mean

you know not what to to eat today yeah

necessarily but needing to know to help

their kids yeah to their jobs their you

know in every area of your life i

believe god is speaking or wants to

speak or wants to have a say yes and i

want to say too that just that sense of

dissatisfaction that that someone may be

feeling that we all feel when we’re

going to be launched into the next level

in our relationship with god sometimes

that dissatisfaction makes us so upset

and so frustrated because we just want

to know the answer we want to get to the

answer but the dissatisfaction itself is

a sign of god’s spirit working with us

absolutely and the satisfaction the

journey that it is going to lead you on

the lessons that are meant to be learned

they’re going to be learned because the

dissatisfaction sent you on a journey

the journey itself is not a waste of

time discerning the voice of god is

never something you’re going to arrive

at it is never something you’re going to

be successful at it is going to be a

journey with god as you walk in the

rhythms of grace you will be on your

deathbed still wanting to know whether

or not you have clearly heard the voice

of god because we are human wow he’s

mysterious he is god and aren’t we glad

that he’s not just a big version of us i

don’t want god to just be a big me i

want god to be so far beyond my

imagination that i can never arrive at

the knowledge of him that i have to

constantly and consistently be growing

well because it takes faith

it takes faith to say okay you know what

that that’s why i always say if we step

out in faith kind of

no matter what it is but if we walk in

faith how can we ever fail in that

that’s right that’s right if we’re

believing that we’re doing what god’s

called us

yeah yeah even when we’re when we’re

unsure and we’re unsteady in in the book

i list several of these but i’ll tell

you just a couple of them i believe that

he allows us to have the mercy of

confirmation i call them the five m’s of

hearing god when you sense that god is

imparting something upon you

impressing conviction um

just a a push towards something or away

from something ask him for the mercy of

confirmation he knows you’re just a

human he knows that you need to make

sure that his fingerprints are on this

assignment before you move forward i

believe that he honors the sincere

request of his children when they say

lord would you just do something to

confirm not not because it’s the primary

way you speak i think you’re speaking

would you confirm that by some external

means to point me in the right direction

and then one of the other m’s is the

ministry of eli do you remember the

little boy samuel he had an older wiser

guy in his life named eli who was the

one who pointed out to him that the

voice you’re hearing is the voice of god

you need to have a wiser more mature

believer in your life who you admire not

the car they drive the house they live

live in the success that they’ve

achieved but the

ongoing conversational relationship they

have with god the victory you’ve seen

them experience in your life you go to

them and you say here’s what i think the

lord is saying would you pray through

this with me

listen i’ve got those people in my life

the majority of the things that we have

done in ministry as a couple we have not

done

i’m talking about big things that would

have marked our lives in our children’s

lives we have not done before we have

called people that we are submitted to

their authority

asked them would they pray through and

give us their wise counsel before we

took a step so we’ve submitted ourselves

to the ministry of eli we’ve got eli’s

in our life okay we’re talking about

discerning the voice of god we’re going

to be talking about unpacking it with

jerry and priscilla

all

uh this book

why don’t you uh whine back

and go back to the original

moment that you started thinking about

writing this book what was happening in

your life what was going on how did this

subject matter start forming

books for most people are painful to

write

except max potato who says it’s easy

which is

not fair he’s kind of different though

that’s not even yeah

and that’s true for me to write books

and so

most of us would would i’ve never

written a book probably won’t but the

idea it would be painful because it’s

hard for me to write a letter so um this

this had to be a period of light in your

life where you were going to drill down

you were going to get into this

why this book why this subject matter

when you wrote it

specifically because of what your wife

described a few moments ago as a

dissatisfaction with my christian life

the way it was wow i grew up in a

incredible wonderful

spirit-filled environment where my

father who started the church that i

still attend to this day when i was one

year old they have been faithfully

pastoring for 40 years and if anybody

can preach the word of god it is tony

evans tell you

he is one of the most gifted

communicators of god’s word and i was

talking to your wife earlier today and

telling her that

the reality is i had parents that lived

the thing i’m so grateful integrity and

character that’s what my parents had and

so i gleaned so much of what the word of

god was who it described god to be what

he did in the old testament in the new

testament i knew all that

but felt dissatisfied because if he did

that for them

then why am i not experiencing that for

me there was an unrest in my heart i

wanted more i wanted to see and

experience this god of the bible and it

is that dissatisfaction that sent me on

a just a personal journey that connected

me with people who were in different

streams of the faith and instead of

closing them out i invited in what it is

that god was teaching them and the ways

that he had demonstrated himself to them

and by just listening and gleaning and

inviting from the breadth of the body of

christ i began to realize that there is

so much more than our little box of our

little stream presents to us that there

is more that can be that doesn’t take

away or water down what we have but on

the firm foundation of where that god

has already laid in our life there are

deeper depths and there are higher

heights and so i just started walking

the journey and i’m so grateful to the

lord because he um

honored my quest

by again not allowing me to be at a

place where i’ve arrived i’m in a place

right now here i am at i wrote that book

i think when i was 31 or 32 here i am at

42 years old and i’m at a place right

now where i’m revisiting this whole

concept because i’m needing to say lord

i’m at a place right now where i feel

like you’re silent or either my heart’s

hardened and i’m not hearing so once

again lord i need to retrain my

spiritual ears i’m praying and saying

lord would you heighten my spiritual

senses you know just like we have five

physical senses we’ve got spiritual

sentence lord sen says lord i need my

radar to be up so that i can detect your

presence and hear your voice and i’m

going to need you to make my detectors

sensitive again lord and i’m entrusting

that to your spirit so it’s an ongoing

um thing that is born out of those

moments of unrest in our life with the

lord the greatest gift ever it’s a

greatest gift it means there’s a new

level he wants to take you to i’ve been

trying to keep myself from getting

frustrated by those moments right and

just go with god you know so then

then

at some point though

how is your life different

how is your life better

after you hit that dissatisfaction point

started writing this book

what has changed in the 10 years for you

personally because there could be

somebody viewing going you know this is

really too deep of a subject for me

you know i got kids to raise and i got

two jobs and i got this and that i don’t

have time to put into okay

how can we make sure everyone

understands

this book the contents of this book the

subject matter of hearing god’s voice is

something that will change their life so

take your own journey talk to us about

that

if we feel like our life is too big and

too filled with the busyness of kids or

business or life right now to be

concerned about this topic that just

seems so theological theoretical and

sort of out there

then those very reasons are the reasons

why more than anything you need to

discern the voice of god okay all the

things that you love the most your

children your spouse your business your

ministry all the things that are closest

to you without guidance uh and leading

from the holy spirit without knowing

what it is that god wants you to do you

will not be able to handle those things

i won’t be able to handle those things

correctly we’ll miss out on some of the

biggest gifts and biggest surprises and

biggest miracles that he wants to

present to us because most of those

hinge on us hearing a word and having

faith enough to step out on the journey

just like your parents got it let me

tell you what i’ve gained here’s what

i’ve gained

what i’ve gained is that now at 42 years

old

and i say this i say this

you know i’m stepping carefully when i

say it but at 42 years old there are

very few things

that the lord could ask me to do that i

would not quickly and immediately step

out to do them because i have i have

such a track record with god now even

with my mistakes but i have such a track

record with god now and i think my

husband can attest to this but i’m one

of those people that if i sense the holy

spirit is calling me to do something

because of the track record of seeing

his faithfulness time and time again

step in for me when i stepped off what i

thought was a ledge and it didn’t look

like it was good but i had a word from

the lord and it was confirmed in his

word and by leadership in my life so i

just went ahead and i did it anyway and

i watched him catch me and i watched him

take me to a place i never could have

gotten in my own giftings or my own

talent or my own skill you watch him do

that enough times you get to the place

that when god asks you to do it again

you you can’t wait to step off the ledge

yeah because you need that another word

let’s go i’m so excited to see what’s

next in the journey so i get excited now

about hearing a word from god i i don’t

allow myself to become discouraged when

i feel like he’s silent i assume that

that means the last word i had state

stay with the last word stay right there

obedient to them do me a favor

just uh let’s let’s for somebody that

still is going

yeah that’s good for you folks that are

on television right you don’t know what

it’s like out here you know and all this

and and you know you’re all up there in

your suit and you’re all looking good

and smelling good and all that kind of

stuff

it’s really rough out here think of the

people in you know foreign you know

parts of the world of indonesia and and

africa that are watching tonight they’re

just

they’re struggling to get by mm-hmm okay

god

talk to them yeah well yeah would it

happen think of think of them in in

regard to that and if you would look at

them and maybe pray for them for so long

let me just say this first of all and i

want to talk to those people please

i’m the youngest of three

grew up in a single parent home

my mother had to sack groceries work for

tips only to put food on the table

but i remember nights i couldn’t sleep

and get up

i saw her praying on her knees

for her it was how bad she wanted it

i tell people all the time how the

prayers of one woman change the entire

generation wow

so yeah

and so god speaks to us no matter what

ailments we have no matter how

devastating those seasons of life are

where we feel like we are completely

overwhelmed we don’t have what it’s

going to take to sustain our current

needs and we’re wondering if god hears

we’re wondering whether or not our

prayers

matter we’re wondering whether or not he

is ever going to speak into and change

and alter our circumstances but one of

the greatest gifts i think from

scripture is not his voice it’s not what

he can give us

is just him yeah

seek

him

he will disclose more and more to you in

terms of his will his plans for your

life his gifts his blessings those are a

benefit of just having him

and you need to know that he’ll never

leave you he will never forsake you no

matter how devastating things might

become um and i know there are some very

real practical needs

and so i want to pray for those right

now i want to pray that the lord will

manifest himself to you in a tangible

way that will keep you hope filled

encouraged and excited to continue your

relationship with the lord despite

external circumstances

lord jesus i pray for my sister and

brothers all around the world i’m asking

right now in jesus name that you would

bring encouragement you would replace

discouragement with encouragement lord

i’m going to ask right now in jesus name

that you would build up somebody’s faith

today by manifesting yourself in their

life lord i’m asking you to speak to

them a still small voice lord or let the

scriptures fall open to a page of of

your word lord that is so evidently so

clearly for them that they will never

doubt again that they have not heard

from you and experienced you lord i’m

asking that the church they attend would

be on fire with your spirit that every

time they and the others that go there

would walk through the door they would

have a tangible sense of your presence

with them lord i pray that your word

would be alive i pray that the

assignment of the enemy against them

against their children against their

spouses lord that those assignments

would be canceled and that they would

see those assignments replaced by your

grace your love and your mercy washing

over them and their experience lord meet

us speak to us lord we need a word from

you and so we ask lord that you would

bring

your word to your people and speak

clearly so that we can hear

thank you lift the veil from our eyes

thank you lord

cause the veil that is over our ears the

hardness of our heart lord to be

softened and to be removed so that we

have tender

sensors that are able to detect your

presence we need you lord and so we ask

you to speak it is in jesus name that we

pray

amen amen beautiful wow

wow wow i love what you said about your

mama

you know the need for god so many of us

we need something new in our life we

need god and and i think that

dissatisfaction

leads us to a place of seeking

you know and i think being a seeker is

one of the greatest things that could

ever happen to us because there’s a lot

of people sitting in church that aren’t

seeking god anymore yeah but there’s a

lot of people out in the world that

haven’t found god yet god hasn’t found

them that are seeking and

you seek and you’re going to find him

that’s right you know so i think that’s

a that’s a good thing if you’ve got

children that are seeking god

you need to pray for your kids that god

brings that person or

something into their lives that that

draws them to god because i think that’s

a very open

season of their life was when they’re

seeking god totally how do you know um

so so i know that a lot of um

people want to hear god’s voice but they

won’t stop talking

right tell us how important my problem

just stop talking

we have turned prayer into this one-way

monologue

where we’re just you know just feeling

like we have to fill in the no of the

silence any quiet spaces we’ve just got

to fill them in with our next

request or the next thing that we want

to say and you’re right we don’t leave

room for god to get a word in edgewise

but one of the authors that i remember

reading bob sorgay i believe his name is

he said

nothing happens when i speak but when

god speaks worlds come into existence

so why in the world wouldn’t i want to

leave time for him to speak and what

that practically looks like is yes

vocalize your prayers to him i literally

have kind of begun the habit of even

writing some down just writing down what

it is that i want to say to the lord yes

we have the privilege of bringing our

needs and our request to him but there

ought to be at some point where you just

pause

and you say okay lord is there anything

you want to say to me

most of the time he’ll speak to us just

through his word through whatever you’re

reading in your bible time that day he

knows how to match up what you’re going

to be reading today with what the needs

of your life or your future are that you

might not even be aware of yet so in his

word that is how most of the time he

speaks back to us but oftentimes

it’s just an impression

it’s just a bible verse from that you

learned in sunday school years ago all

of a sudden it comes back to your mind

now take that as

god speaking to you or the name of a

friend you haven’t talked to in years

take that as god saying pray for this

friend right now those little

impressions those little inklings you

know deuteronomy chapter 30 says

god’s word is not so hard that you’ve

got to send someone above the heavens to

go find it for you or through the seas

to go and get it for you god’s word is

in your own heart it’s in your it is as

close as your fingers tips all of that

stuff that we discount as our own ideas

oh that’s just coincidence most of the

time for the believer for the one who is

seeking god’s will and his voice most of

the time that’s god’s word take it

seriously write it down ask him for

confirmation treasure his word and see

if he doesn’t show you how important and

palatable it is in terms of the

experience that he has planned for you

we are talking with jerry and priscilla

know what’s uh

you know it it it couldn’t be

any more important this subject matter i

mean the very fact that the four of us

are sitting in a studio

doing this broadcast is because

discerning the voice of god came to paul

and jan crouch 40 something years ago

and

tbn is his thing this isn’t something

that the crouch family built uh this is

something god did and and the idea um

you know that’s why it’s almost comical

when people try to rise up against

something that god did it’s just kind of

kind of funny you know

it can be irritating for a season but

it’s it’s almost comical yeah uh because

uh if we thought that this ministry and

as it is now fully in its second

generation we’re up to us we quit it’s

not up to us it’s god’s thing

and so we have that same firm foundation

of understanding and and oftentimes

people

will say well

you know

everything’s different for you and

everything’s different for

these smiling faces on on television you

don’t understand what’s like you know in

the real world and well

the problem is is

uh the crouch family the shire family

and you know the evans family were all

just normal people till we heard the

voice of the lord and then that’s what

changed if there is a difference it’s

because of his voice

there couldn’t be a more important

subject matter for you

and jerry i’m circling back to you just

for a second because of what you said

so it’s not an economic thing

it isn’t just

you know

executives that the lord speaks to your

mama uh needed the voice of the lord and

apparently was struggling in a single

family situation so it worked and it

worked for your mama yes you’re

absolutely right i remember her coming

home with her tips

and and say she made forty dollars in

tips that day all right i remember her

taking out four dollars

yeah you know putting it to the side

because that was going to go into the

offering plate that’s a i mean i’m like

mom are you kidding me you know the lord

would understand

she goes no it’s just she goes it’s a

simple obedience so it had nothing to do

with that and then i remember her like i

said getting up early praying i remember

there were situations i was in off in

college that

some of my boys and i would go do

something

and there was a still this thing in me

like you know what jerry don’t go

you know

that was the time my mom was praying for

me so she has kept me out of so much

situation through her prayers that’s why

i said the prayers had the prayers of

one woman change the generation i mean

still today it’s so funny our boys

will be like granny’s still praying

man for 30 minutes i’m like yep she’s

still praying i said she’s praying for

you guys so she’s praying even for this

next generation her grandchildren yeah

and so it’s just great but yeah it is

not an economical thing it is it is

a it is something that you desire do you

really want it like i said she used to

get up early in the morning before the

kids got up on her knees praying for her

children praying for the day praying for

whatever so

you know you make time for what you want

yeah and if you want to hear the voice

of god you got to make time for him okay

now we

we the four of us

grew up in an environment where this

subject matter is normal yeah this one

this this is understood

we get this there are people that grew

up in the opposite polar opposite of

that and they don’t get it

this book

you know it the title is discerning the

voice of god how to recognize when god

is speaking okay

there could be you know why don’t you

start with you know just

speak to the people

that are new christians they didn’t grow

up they don’t have no examples in their

life of this happening this isn’t normal

and it sounds crazy sounds like it’s not

right that we’re not right you sound a

little crazy

okay so uh just

introduce the subject matter if somebody

just doesn’t quite get it okay

so john 10 27 to me is the most concise

and comprehensive verse in scripture

about hearing god

it is when jesus says my sheep

hear my voice i know them and they

follow me

he says you got to be my sheep to hear

my voice

so you said new christians listen that

relationship right there is the the

connector that allows you access to the

voice of god so so to me the first step

is actually believing that as an adopted

son or daughter grafted into the family

of god that you have the capacity

innately because you’re part of the

family to now hear the voice of god it’s

like um

when we were growing up in our house i

don’t know about you guys but we didn’t

have access to a whole lot of cable

television my parents didn’t get cable

they didn’t get you know whatever

directv all that stuff we didn’t have

any of that stuff right and i i felt a

little mad about that i really wanted to

have more channels my parents chose that

we could really only watch the cosby

show on thursdays at seven o’clock and

then a different world so it wasn’t

until we were getting ready to get

married i moved out i remember the day i

had the cable guy come over hook up the

cable and after he did all that hooking

up he said here’s the remote control

push the guide button and i pushed the

guide button at i had never seen so many

channels in my life on the screen i had

no idea all those channels were there

now all those channels didn’t just get

created

that day

they had always been there it’s just i

didn’t have the right hook up so that i

could tap into them and bring them and

draw them down into my experience the

holy spirit is the hookup

when you place faith in jesus christ

ephesians chapter 1 says the moment you

believe you receive the hook up the holy

spirit now you are able to draw down

divine channels it’s not that you

created them no they were always there

god’s speaking he wants to reveal

himself now you have the the opportunity

to hear him so really the first step

especially if you grew up in an

environment where this concept is sort

of um unique and different and new for

you it’s to believe

that as a as a privilege of being a son

or a daughter you can hear from god it

is the deception of the enemy to cause

us to think we have to have a seminary

degree we have to have some special

hotline connection with god like

somebody we may admire that we as

regular men and women can’t hear from

god that’s what the enemy wants you to

think he doesn’t want you to know it’s

your birthright and so believing that

you can

is the first step to hearing god one of

the things i love about the holy

spirit’s work in us and this is in

regards to hearing god but his work in

us is to sanctify us sanctification is

the process by which we are molded into

the image of jesus christ

it is the process by which our mind

changes our ambitions change our desires

we start wanting stuff we never thought

we want we stop wanting things we never

thought we’d ever not want to want to to

separate ourselves from all of a sudden

we find ourselves unnerved by jokes that

we used to laugh at or company we used

to keep it just doesn’t work for us

anymore that’s the work of the holy

spirit so in regards to discerning the

voice of god if anybody’s ever concerned

or afraid like i have been that oh god

might say to me something i don’t want

the holy spirit what he does is turn

your desires so that they are in

alignment with god’s will so you

actually want what it is that god wants

you to want that’s what i believe the

psalmist meant when he said that he

gives you the desires of your heart he

doesn’t give you what you want he

actually puts

his desires in your heart so that you

want what he wants let me tell you a

practical application of that

when we were first married and before we

had children we lived in orange county

california i grew up in newport beach

california

so um la county was more like enemy

territory

you know we we didn’t really understand

the big city of los angeles if you live

in a suburb of orange county l.a county

it’s real different because it’s just a

real different environment

and and then the lord called us to

hollywood

so we packed up

our little kids and we went to los

angeles bought a home in l.a

and lived there for 15 years

lori told me

that i’m so used to orange county when i

need grocery shopping

i’m going to get my kids put them in my

car i’m going to drive back down to

orange county how far a drive was at 35

40 miles

and i’ll do my grocery shopping and then

come back

had planned that so we bought a house

that felt like this kind of sanctuary up

on the side of a hill and and we were

very protected and it felt really good

when we were at home but we just were

very

you know the the surrounding was not

going to work for us

within days

the changing of our attitude and the

holy spirit that we fell in love with

this area we started it was when god

called us to hollywood he changed the

very inside of who we were yes so the

idea of when he’s going to call you if

you don’t like it now you’ll you’ll

you’ll immediately like it you’ll you’ll

immediately love it we lived up there

raised our boys

for 15 years in l.a county and only

recently have come back to serve this

ministry tbn as my parents were in their

retirement age and now we’re in heaven

so they’re in heaven now watching the

fact that we’re still talking about god

that we’re still doing the same thing

that for 45 years tbn has been doing you

know uh all of this

and what we want for you this month we

want you to discern and to hear the

voice of god get our love gift thank you

now for some of you you just lied

because your life

is committed to your preference and not

his purpose

but i heard god say if you’re going to

commit to my purpose this year then

you’re going to have to become everybody

shout at me anchored

shout it like you mean it

say it with your chest

this year we will be anchored and i do

believe

that the prophetic word that god gives

us every year in a vision type of way is

something that marks our lives and is

able to refine us so today i thought

what i would do as i come into week two

of this series about being anchored and

y’all i’m so excited to preach this

message right now i thought i would walk

us through how i got here okay so so we

are officially starting get your

notepads ready get your smartphones and

your dumb phones get everything that you

got ready because we are in week two of

a series we’re calling help me

anchor all right now this is going to be

a series that shapes your whole year

so i want you to plan right now on

coming back to this series every month

how many notebooks do you have filled

the notes and how many things do you

have on your phone and emails that you

have of notes that you never use

god’s saying if you’re going to be

anchored you got to remember my words

mark my words that’s what we talked

about last week he’s saying remember

them so that in a season that you didn’t

know you needed it i already gave you

the answer i dare say to some people

right now the very answer you’re looking

for god already gave you just for god

this is one of the things that god is

challenging us to do is not just be

consumers be studiers of his word

and

in this series i think it is my position

to not just come as the man of god and

and god gave me this word you know how

people do and they act like they the

only one hear from god and they they

don’t sleep on an actual bed and don’t

use the actual toilet somehow it just

comes out of them and they’re purified

and like it’s just all these things and

that’s the furthest thing from the truth

i want you to know i am a human

hue man that is submitted to god

and anything that happens in my life

can happen in your life if you make the

same type of type of sacrifices and

dedications and devote yourself take

your vote away god i don’t want to do

that but i’m devoted i don’t have a vote

no more i i don’t want to do prayer and

fasting but i’m devoted i’m going to

take my vote away and you can see these

outcomes in your life and so today i

wanted to start it start this whole

thing by telling you how i got to the

word anchored i don’t like the word

anchored let’s start there

let’s start that when god gives you a

word he does not consult your feelings

when god speaks prophetically he doesn’t

look at what you want he looks at what

you need and god somehow stepped outside

of eternity and saw transformation

church in this year and said the word

they need to center around gather their

faith around give around is the word

anchor

and so let me start off by saying this

is not my favorite word

i would have preferred

tons of other words

the blow up

the next level any of those could have

worked god and i

pray about it

because when god starts to show me

something or hear something and the

reason i’m walking us through this

because i saw a couple comments and i

got a few emails that raised my pastor

up this this week that said god don’t be

speaking to people like that

whoa

you see he’s just over here talking

about how god talks to him there’s

nowhere in the bible that it talks about

god speaking to people

really

so i thought today that i’m not just

gonna give you fish i’m gonna teach you

how to fish and let you know that god is

still speaking and he wants to do

something so special in your life so

every summer if you’ve been around

transformation church there’s about a a

a month and a half that me and pastor

natalie disappear from the scene and i

go on sabbatical from the very first

year of me being in ministry we take

this time and on that sabbatical i

intentionally

intentionally make a space for god to

speak to me so i literally go to a

random hotel where only my security and

my wife know where i’m at and i sit

there and i just pray and ask god what

i’m supposed to do and pace around the

room and admit i don’t know nothing and

i asked god like why did you choose me

there’s a whole other year that people

are going to come every sunday and you

know the funny thing about sundays they

come every sunday and i don’t know what

to do and i just lay before god and i

ask him for vision and direction

every year when i make this space god

meets me in these times and what ends up

happening is out of that time i bring

the word to the year to our staff first

and i usually share it with them in

september or october at staff in vance

because it’s hard to lead somebody a

place you’ve never gone before and so

this team we pray and we fast and we

talk about the word of the year so this

staff and this team the reason why

anchorage is coming off so smooth to us

because we’ve been walking this thing

out for about four or five months and

then at the beginning of the year i

share it with our church because it’s

not just for this house the organization

it’s for somebody say my house

god does not speak anything in this

house that he does not want duplicated

in your house he doesn’t want this

church blessed and your marriage not

blessed he doesn’t want this church to

be influential and you not be

influential god uses this church as an

example of what he wants to do everybody

say through me

and so when i went on sabbatical the

main thing that i write down in my

journal is god i want to hear you

i want to hear you and god i will listen

and when i said that um to somebody this

week talking to them through like god

still speaks god told me he said michael

people are deceived

hearing me

hearing god’s voice is normal for the

believer

he said if you don’t hear me

who are you hearing

if you’re not hearing me

somebody’s speaking to you

can i prove it to you because in john 10

4 5 he said that my sheep follow me they

know my voice and a stranger they will

not follow but they will flee from him

for they know not the voice of a

stranger who’s ever talking to you if it

ain’t god who is it

and i really begin to think about that

because god said i’m still speaking but

culture’s speaking too

finances are speaking too your favorite

motivational speaker is speaking to and

you’ve confused their good idea with my

voice

and the problem that’s happening right

now is because it takes a sacrifice to

get into the presence of god a sacrifice

to live a life that’s holy enough a

sacrifice so many of y’all would rather

take a cheap counterfeit than actually

have the authentic voice of god speaking

in your life i’m already doing too much

right now michael wu saw but 2021 will

not be the year that you will be able to

blame god for not speaking to you 2021

will not be the year that you talk about

he’s just so far away from me no no no

your ears are closed and you’re walking

around like

and god says i’m speaking but you can’t

hear me because you’re listening to the

stranger’s voice

we talk about stranger things let me

tell you about stranger things stranger

things is hearing from people who do not

have the heaven’s mind for your life

stranger things is listening to a friend

group that feels like they’re more

successful than you so maybe i should

listen to them they don’t know the

purpose of god for your life they don’t

know the plan that god has for your

marriage they do not know what god has

already ordained for you you better stop

listening to the stranger’s voice

i have small children right now that

love

answering the door

they love bing bong they ah

knock knock they love answering the door

but the one thing

that i’ve had to teach my daughters

and my son

is when somebody’s at the door

the first thing they ask is what

who is it

and the problem is so much stuff has

been showing up at the door of your life

and you’ve stopped asking who is it

you’re just opening the door some of

y’all took the door off the hinge and

they can come in and go as they please

but today it’s time oh i feel this thing

it’s time to put a barrier back up and

when you hear something you need to ask

who is it

and the only way i know who it is

is if they speak

their voice authenticates

who it is

and very

very easily now my daughter says who is

and i say it’s your daddy

she stay her reaction who is it

it’s charles

oh uncle charles who is it it’s auntie

bree she knows how to give access

to people she’s familiar with their

voice

but when she says who is it

and it’s a stranger’s voice

she doesn’t respond audibly

she

daddy

somebody’s at the door

and i’m unfamiliar with their voice

daddy are you expecting somebody are you

expecting this relationship are you

expecting this business deal see daddy

should be talked to either way

it’s either him at the door

or i’m running to him because the

stranger

i didn’t this ain’t even my message

but all i’m saying to you today

is that god is speaking

and many of us are missing him because

we’ve been

we’ve been conned by the stranger

the strange voice of comparison

the strange voice of depression and

anxiety and perversion they’ve been

speaking to you and god’s saying hey

my sheep know my voice

and a stranger they will not adhere they

won’t listen they will not submit to and

god’s saying i’m speaking somebody say

god speaks

i want you to say it like you mean it

god speaks

and now make it personal god will speak

to me

i’m declaring that over your life if

you’ve never ever thought so well my my

old denomination didn’t believe that

welcome baby to the full gospel of jesus

christ somebody needs to know that god

will speak

to me

he’ll give you direction about the

business he’ll give you direction about

let me stop

i think i just need to do it charles can

i just tell them how god speaks um the

first thing i need to let you know that

malachi 3 6 tells us um the character of

god it shows that he’s an anchor it

shows that he’s reliable and dependable

and it says for i am the lord and i

don’t change

so the first thing you got to understand

is that god is an anchor that does not

change

he is something that is going to be the

same and he has been the same and he

will be the same so if god spoke in the

bible days

and he said he don’t change

he’s still speaking today so let me tell

you 11 ways i just got to flow through

this i’m gonna have to maybe do an

instagram live or do something on this

later because i really feel that people

need to hear this but god speaks

somebody shouted me god speaks

god speaks in an audible voice

now this is getting more and more um

rare but this is how god has spoken and

i do believe how god still speaks to

some people in certain situations from

adam and eve to moses in the burning

bush the reason that god speaks in an

audible voice is to get somebody’s full

attention and this has never happened to

me but i’m not saying because it hasn’t

happened to me that it hasn’t happened

and some of us are so prideful to think

that because you’ve not experienced

something somehow that limits god he’s

god if you believe or not

he’s god there’s a word in the bible and

it’s a cuss word for some but this is

the thing that really gives god an

unexplainable title he’s sovereign

he does what he wants

when he wants to and i know that’s not

sexy language in 2021 because we want

everything to make sense and have a

reason and be able to logically

understand it and god says you can want

all that but i ain’t got to do all that

i’m

sovereign

and i believe that god still speaks in

an audible voice that’s why hebrews 13

8 says jesus christ is the same

yesterday

today

and forever so that’s one way that god

speaks let me give you a second way that

god speaks through angelic visitations

now i know this is way above a lot of

y’all’s pay grade but the way that mary

knew that she was pregnant with jesus is

an angel came to her

this is the thing that i really do

believe that angelic hosts what we talk

about we believe they can sing holy holy

holy all around the throne but we don’t

believe they can fight for us but i look

there are different types of angels

there are ministering angels there are

guardian angels and there are warring

angels and some of you have put your

angels at bay because you don’t believe

that these things are real but god

speaks

through angelic visitation i can’t even

go number three he speaks through dreams

and visions this is the one that we want

all the time but this is not all how all

the times how he comes but this is a way

that he speaks he speaks through signs

and miracles god will speak to somebody

who does not believe he will speak to

them that’s what he says the miracles

are for the unbelievers when somebody

who was this way is standing there

watching skeptical and god touches them

and they get healed they’ll be like hold

on now tell me again how that happened

god said that the reason miracles have

to come into 2021 is because the world

is getting dimmer and dimmer and they

can’t believe but when they see my light

when they see cancer dry up on the

inside of somebody when they see

somebody who was addicted and couldn’t

function without pills and alcohol i

feel my help

coming on it is a miracle for the

unbeliever and god speaks through signs

and miracles i believe that god speaks

through

god speaks to coincidences

i heard albert einstein say coincidences

are god’s way of remaining anonymous

it was a coincidence i ran into you at

the

that was god

oh it’s such a coincidence i had a dream

about this and then somebody started

singing the song in office that happened

this week coincidence

said that’s god

he’s speaking

when you thought it was have you ever

been somewhere and said something told

stop dumbing down to something

the something has a name

his name is jesus

oh okay i don’t know why i feel so

preachy today i

whoa it must be this lime green strip i

don’t know which one i like okay

so god speaks through coincidence he

speaks through his written word

this is in the greek called the logos

the bible

it is the main way listen to what i’m

saying this is the main way

that god speaks to us

the problem is

if you do not open up the bible

you are void of the main way

that god speaks to people

there has been time after time

that i needed an answer for something

that was happening in my everyday life

and i opened up my bible for devotion

man

not wanting to read can it can i be

honest with you the pastor don’t always

want to read his bible

i don’t want to

matthew mark luke or john yeah

but

as i open up the living word

god starts reading me see because the

bible is the only book that you read it

but it reads you back

my attitude is off and god says yeah

right there that’s why i’m gonna get you

and this is why i want you to understand

that in 2021 for you to be anchored you

cannot be anchored without the word of

god

your instagram post scripture is not

studying the word of god

nobody’s gonna say it so i think i just

have to say

yes you posted it with lilies and

flowers and it works with your aesthetic

but it did not go to your heart it went

on your page but it missed your heart

and what god is saying to you right now

is you gotta hide yourself in my word

because i’ll speak to you somebody said

god speaks

that’s six ways the other way he speaks

is through the living word jesus says in

john 6 63 the words or the rhema that’s

the right now word that i speak to you

are spirit that’s there’s something

that’s in them and they are life see

this is the thing that you got to

understand i don’t understand how people

live without the holy spirit functioning

in their life because that is the living

word jesus literally says it’s better

disciples because they was tripping if

you if you if you let me go because if i

go and do my father’s business i’m going

to send you the holy spirit and when i

send you the holy spirit he’s going to

be your comforter he is going to walk

with you he’s going to talk with you and

he’s going to lead you into all truth

everybody say truth

and the fact is that there’s a lot of

lies going on right now and we need

truth and god’s saying that when i give

my word through the holy spirit it’s a

specific word for a specific time for a

specific need

and when you live like this god speaks

everybody say god speaks

this is the one you’re not going to like

god speaks to other people yeah that’s

good

dang

see because we wish we could judge

the type of people that god allows us to

speak through

but the person you don’t like

god can speak through them

the person who’ve been on your nerves at

your job

the problem is some of your enemies have

been speaking the most truth to you but

because you won’t even listen and see is

there anything that god has to say in

the body of christ to do the great

commission go into all the world and

make disciples of every nation how can i

do that and still keep up what god says

about being the man of the house and

being stewarding in first timothy and

being a leader and having how can i do

that and take care of my home unless

there’s a vehicle that god divinely uses

to spread the gospel and i can give my

babies baths at night how can i still be

and god’s saying i’m giving you a tool

that i speak through

somebody say god speaks

god speaks through creation and nature

you want to know is god real go outside

just go outside and look up yeah yeah go

go outside if you near ocean we we land

locked in tulsa we only got ponds that

don’t have full water in them but if you

buy an ocean

go look at the ocean

and tell me

that god does not speak through creation

when i tell you when you we watch every

season no matter the economic

downfall or the economic rise in every

season the flowers still bloom

no matter who’s in office or who’s out

of office

the birds and the bees still pollinate

no matter what is going on through every

age and every kingdom rising every

empire fall bears still hibernate god is

speaking

and the last way i’m going to talk about

that god speaks

is through our conscience

there are things that my body’s about to

that my conscience says

don’t do it no i’m already in the act

my my my flesh has already decided

and then the holy spirit just invades my

conscience and say this is going to

delay you

they’re a setback

have you ever walked in a place about to

put the money down and say that’s bad

this ain’t your house

that ain’t your mate

at the engagement party

you ain’t getting that money back but

you’ll have your life i’m telling you

right now

god is trying to help somebody do not

ignore when the holy spirit jumps in

your conscience

he’s trying to speak somebody say god

speaks

and

and the key is we have to learn how to

recognize his voice

because sometimes the bible tells us he

stop talks in a still

small

voice and some of us are too busy

to hear the small voice of god

i i want to normalize

silence

i need you to you don’t always have to

have something going on

i want to normalize meditation

not in no weird

like like the bible all these other

religions are biting the bible this is

not new he says meditate on my word day

and night this is this is what i need

you to do and some of us are so busy

setting atmospheres

that we don’t hear answers

the candle’s right the mood’s right i

have my my my mood music and the vibe is

right and i’ve done this and and god’s

saying like just sit down

just spend that extra five minutes in

the car

turn the radio off turn instagram off

one of the most spiritual things you may

do is turn your notifications off of

your phone

i had to do this three years ago i’m

trying to be very practical i don’t get

a ding every time somebody hits my

social medias

because it was my invitation for

interruption

god could be speaking to me

you don’t think the enemy will help

somebody text me

you don’t think he’ll help somebody like

yeah yeah don’t send it right now and at

the moment god’s about to give a word

i don’t know what all your sounds are

but they start happening and and even if

i ignore them they have now taken up

space

i didn’t answer it but now it’s taking

up room

if you’re gonna be anchored this year

you gotta make space

for god to speak

and i believe there’s puzzle pieces to

this this is the one thing of how i got

to the word anchored this year and i

just feel like teaching i feel like

being your pastor this morning i feel

like just giving you like just practical

things that will help you be anchored if

you want to be anchored in your life

anchored in your spiritual life i told

you all a few weeks ago this will be

your best year ever if it is your best

year spiritually that was not for likes

or comments that is a true statement

that is going to take you having to

sacrifice some things to get the best

thing and the best thing you can get is

a word from god somebody shout at me god

speaks

and this is how you get those puzzle

pieces to come together the first thing

that happens when i go to get vision and

this is how we got to anchored is i get

in god’s presence

you never get a word from god without

him actually being there his presence

it’s not a gift he sends in the mail

it’s a gift he gives as he’s there with

you it is his presence my wife loves

gifts that i get her but she would take

back every purse and every piece of shoe

and every gift i would ever for my

actual presence

and i feel like the church has been so

enamored with gifts

oh they sing good

the gifts

they preach good

that they have settled for gifts instead

of his presence

if the note is off and he’s there it’s

all good

you see they don’t want that one because

at the minute we might sacrifice

excellence but we get his presence do

you know some of the most amazing times

i’ve had with god had no led screens

attached to it

had no good sound

the times when god checked me and

changed me and transformed me i wasn’t

in a ritz called and i was at a best

western

do you unders i’m just trying to say

that if you do not put value on his

presence you’re missing a piece of the

puzzle

and for you to be anchored this year

you’re going to have to get in his

presence that’s why we’re spending 21

days praying and fasting and i’m

encouraging everybody that’s still tuned

in because some of people tuned off

because the appetite went up we just

went from mcdonald’s and to roof crisp

and some of y’all have had an appetite

spiritually for fast food and what god

is saying is i’m about to change your

palate i’m about to bring you up to

steak potatoes shrimp and lobster and

some people can’t eat that all the time

because they’ve been used to eating

things that are processed but i’m coming

to give you the actual organic word of

god and what god has for you will not

come without his presence and honestly

you should be ignorant enough to say i’m

not good enough without his presence so

if your presence is not with me i won’t

i’m encouraging somebody these last

seven days of praying fasting get on

i can bet that i’ll bet my own life on

it because we would rather have the

appearance of god doing something in our

life than actually his power moving in

our life and the only way that changes

is through his everybody say presence

so when i went away and i got in god’s

presence this has been a number two

thing you need to the puzzle piece is a

pattern

see i want to be super practical right

now as a lot of people get in his

presence but they have not made it a

pattern yet

so it’s so sporadic that god’s trying to

get on your calendar

like can i get

okay no i blessed him too much he ain’t

got time for me okay um

so can i oh no they just got no

relationship okay so i was going okay

and if you do not make it a pattern

to make time to spend with god then you

miss the nuances of the pattern that god

wants to give you the reason that my

staff and my team know that we’re going

to have a word every year is since 2015

it has been a

pattern

why is pastor mike got to go for a month

and a half two months because he has a

pattern with god

that the rest of our year is different

because he keeps to the pattern

some of you in your marriage need to

have a pattern of a date night

your children are suffering because the

love in your house is sucked out because

you only are business partners now and

god says it’s because you do it without

my presence and you lost the pattern

and i’m just asking you practically

where are the areas in your life that

you have drifted away from the pattern

remember 2020 is the year of the

anti-drift and i’m gonna talk about that

next week but i gotta lay this

foundation that we need is presence but

we need a pattern

and as i go away for that week and just

ask god what he’s trying to say

i do

another pattern that’s under my pattern

of going away i always ask god for

wisdom

this is one of the things that i don’t

care who you are and if you just joined

the faith today

that god says that as you are one of his

children you can ask for wisdom james 1

5-6 says if any one of you

lacks wisdom

let him ask god

not google

didn’t listen to him he doesn’t factor

in any of that he says he’ll give it

willingly without reproach and it will

be given

it will be given him but let him ask

there’s a caveat

with faith

with no doubting

for the one who doubts is like a wave

ooh sounds like they need an anchor

the one who asked

that doubts is like a wave of the sea

that is driven and tossed by the wind

god’s saying if you’re gonna ask me

drop your anchor in faith

and know that if you ask me for wisdom

i’ll give you wisdom for your marriage

i’ll give you wisdom for the business

i’ll give you wisdom for what house and

neighborhood to live in yeah it looks

depreciated right now but you don’t know

the city’s talking about redoing this

area and the reason i told you to buy

the house now and it seems cheaper than

what you want because it’ll be three

times that two years from now if you

would just listen i’m telling you i’ll

give you wisdom

but wisdom comes from his presence and a

pattern

so as i went to that hotel this year and

i asked god for wisdom

then i want to give you the third puzzle

piece to really getting a word from god

a vision from god getting anchored in

your own life

is it will be practical

god does not live up in this ethereal

realm

he says that i work in the

details of my children’s life so his

presence

creates a pattern that will come out

practically

and i know this is not the teacher

because every pastor wants you to feel

like they smarter than you let me tell

you very clearly i’m not smarter than

y’all

i’m i don’t have many of you have more

actual knowledge more things in your

head than i ever will

the one thing most people can’t mess

with me on

is that i am practically looking for god

everywhere

you might know about him

i know him

i can see him at ihop

i can see him

i can see him as i’m walking down the

street i can see him and a homeless

person i can see him in a beat i can see

him in a movie i can see him in a camera

i can see him the whole earth is the

lord’s

and most of y’all look for him on sunday

and i see him in everything

so when god

gave me his presence and i had a pattern

god spoke to me and he said michael open

your eyes and look

i’m going to speak something in your

conscience

and i want to show y’all i thought it

would be better today to show you how

we’re here and what god wants to do then

just to talk to you about it it was in

august august 7th

i woke up

and i pulled out my phone

and i just typed this down i’d never

seen this before but

god spoke to me because i had made room

in his presence i had a pattern and then

he made it real practical this is all he

said the word for 2021

is anchored

august 8th 2020 at 1 52. this is out my

real phone

i literally

practical i need everybody to understand

this is not mystical or spooky or oh

yeah he no no practical i hit the word

anchored and there’s a thing on the

iphone that says look up word

and i looked up the definition of anchor

and this would have said a person or

thing that provides stability and

confidence in an otherwise unpredictable

situation

god said he whispered this one sentence

to me and i marked his word

what you are tied to

is more important than where and then i

this is how i left it up here just like

this because i was supposed to say where

you are

but it was unfinished

because i got distracted

what you are tied to is more important

than where my go

that’s personality

what you are tied to is more important

than where daddy

and i left this up here to let you know

that even the people that are supposed

to be the closest to god

have the opportunity to be to be

distracted

but what god had me do is go back to his

presence

and i had a pattern

and he finished this word in me and

that’s why i can finish it for you what

you are tied to is more important than

where you currently are

and that was a practical thing and i

said okay god so so so so what are you

telling me he said michael anytime you

do anything get in my presence get the

pattern i’ll make it pra practical

proverbs 3 5 and 6 is trusting the lord

with all your heart and lean not on your

own understanding i did not understand

why he wanted it to be anchored i did

not understand what 2021 hold because i

didn’t have god’s view on it but he did

so he said anchored and he said in all

your ways acknowledge this is me that’s

why i had the audacity to put it in my

phone because i acknowledged this wasn’t

me this was god and he said if you will

do that i will direct

your

path

and i don’t know who i’m talking to

right now but i’m giving you practical

ways that you can hear for your family

and your god how to be anchored in this

year you got to get the puzzle piece of

his presence and his pattern and it has

to be practical and this is the thing

that i love about god is that when god

speaks something he will be persisting

do y’all know how many times i tried to

change the word

tried to maybe like maybe this was what

god was saying

and god’s saying is i’m the same

i gave it to you and if you don’t like

it it don’t matter the truth is not

affected by the opinion

your opinion of what god is doing has

nothing to do with the truth of what

he’s doing

and he said

whether you tell the church or not 20 21

you need to be anchored

and he said and

i’ll give you confirmation and this is

the beautiful thing with walking and

talking and knowing that god speaks is

that you will begin to get confident

that god will give confirmation i expect

confirmation my life is too in the

balance to not hear god say this is

definitely it and let me give somebody

freedom right now god is not offended by

you asking for confirmation

can you go to judges chapter 6 verse 36

i want i want you to show you this small

story about gideon

gideon was the least of the least

the worst tribe nobody knew anything

about him he was scary he was

i mean gideon was the weakest person you

can think of and god through an angel

spoke to him

and said mighty man of valor

and gideon’s like who are you talking to

and then in a further passage then

gideon is like all right he’s

experienced the presence and and and now

it’s coming to be practical you want me

to save israel and look and gideon said

to god um hey god this is amen this has

been great all the signs that you’ve

done but um if you are truly going to

use me

to rescue israel as you promised now i

didn’t really want this like this wasn’t

part of my plan i just wanted some bread

that’s why i was doing this at the

bottom of the threshing floor but if you

want me to rescue them

as you promised

i don’t know how to say this but um

prove it to me

obviously like your website but you need to test the spelling on several of your posts. Several of them are rife with spelling issues and I find it very bothersome to inform the reality on the other hand I?¦ll surely come back again.
