Watch Franklin Graham lead believers from all 50 states in praying for our divided nation during a Prayer March through Washington, D.C. Hosts Cissie Graham Lynch and Mike Huckabee provide updates and prayer focuses.
second lady karen pence
and i’d like the vice president mike
pence
to say a word to us today whatever god
has put on his heart mr vice president
thank you reverend graham my fellow
americans
i’m vice president mike pence
and it’s my great honor and great joy to
be here
with a military mom
committed to the families that serve in
the uniform of the united states
who also happens to teach school at a
christian school not far from here would
you welcome the second lady of the
united states
of america my wife karen pence is with
us today
but we’re honored today to be here at
this washington prayer march
we wanted to be here to stand with you
but i also wanted to be here
to extend the greetings and the
gratitude
of a leader who has been a champion for
people
of faith for life and religious
liberty so allow me to bring thanks and
greetings
from the 45th president of the united
states of america
president donald trump
the president wanted us to be here today
on his behalf behalf of the first family
and our little family simply to say
thank you for your prayers
[Applause]
the bible tells us to persevere in
prayer
that the prayer of the upright pleases
him
that the effective and fervent prayer of
a righteous people availeth much
and in these challenging times we do
well
as you do today to remember
that in everything by prayer and
petition with thanksgiving
that we’re to present our request to god
and we can claim the promise that the
peace of god that passes
all understanding will guard our hearts
and minds in christ jesus
as his grace has through the generations
of this nation
today at this washington prayer march
you continue
a great american tradition
since the founding of our nation the
american people and our leaders have
gone
to prayer in challenging times george
washington
prayed for the leaders and the people of
our states
what he called an earnest prayer that
god would hold them
and our states in his holy protection
abraham lincoln before whose monument we
stand today
said during his time in the white house
i have been driven many times to my
knees
by the overwhelming conviction that i
had nowhere else to go
and president donald trump has observed
many times that america
is a nation of believers
and you proved that again today
so on the president’s behalf i want to
say thank you for your prayers
not only for the first family in our
family but for all of those who serve in
positions
of authority when the president and i
travel around the country the sweetest
words we ever hear
and we hear them a lot and when people
reach out and simply say
i’m praying for you
and so we want to urge you on pray for
all of those
with public responsibilities in the
executive branch
pray for all of the members of the
congress of the united states
pray for all of our justices on the
supreme court including the remarkable
woman that the president will nominate
to fill the seat
on the supreme court later today
and as the proud parents of a united
states marine
with a son-in-law deployed in the united
states navy we ask you to pray
for the men and women of our armed
forces this day
and their families
pray for all of those who protect and
serve especially the men
and women who serve on the thin blue
line of law enforcement
at every level
and in these challenging times in the
wake of a global pandemic
we urge you to play pray for all of
those who are struggling with loss
and with serious illness pray for our
doctors
and nurses and all of those that are
bringing
america through this challenging time
and when you pray
pray with confidence
[Music]
as we stand today on an ancient promise
that americans have claimed throughout
our history
that if his people who are called by his
name
will humble themselves and pray
and turn he’ll do like he’s always done
through much more challenging times in
the life of this nation
he’ll hear from heaven and he’ll heal
this land
this one nation under god
indivisible with liberty and justice
for all thank you very much
god bless you all and god bless america
thank you mr vice president thank you
for coming
and we walked we’ve come here today to
pray
and that’s what we’re going to do right
now and i’m going to ask
a former representative from minnesota
michelle bachmann
and bishop harry jackson
if they would come and pray
for the vice president and for karen and
their family
and then i’m going to
have all of us pray for them as well but
michelle bachmann
and then bishop harry jackson michelle
[Applause]
join with me in prayer psalms 26
12 says now i stand on
i stand on solid ground and i will
publicly praise the lord
great is the lord father i thank you for
a president and a vice president who
publicly praised the lord
father we know they stand on solid
ground
in psalms 33 20-22 says
we put our hope in the lord he is our
help
and our shield in him our hearts rejoice
for we trust in his holy name let your
unfailing love surround us
lord for our hope is in you alone
oh god for our vice president and mrs
pence
and their family father we know that
their trust is in you and therefore
their hope
is in you alone oh father cover them as
their
shield and buckler in your mighty name
father we pray amen
thank you
several years i’ve been going through a
healing process
i should be dead from cancer and the god
saw
fit to heal me amen
10 chance of survival when we think
about the pence family
and the president we think about a
nation
going through a healing process that
prayer can turn
things around amen
so when you look at the riots you look
at the challenges
believe that god is healing us would you
bow your head with me please
heavenly father we think today
about your healing grace we think about
the fact that
you are watching over the pence family
that the vice president be a healer
let him be a physician that is
instructed by you and that the power of
god
arise as we move forward in this next
season
lord we remember psalm 68
verse 1 which says let god arise
and his enemies be scattered let god
arise and his enemies be scattered
let god arise shattered with me on the
count of three
as a prayer to heaven that god will
arise and anoint this leadership
team the vice president and the
president
one two three let god rise
amen
thank you michele bachmann uh thank you
bishop
jackson now what i would like to ask all
of
us to do all of you here today
i’m gonna let that airplane get out of
the way all want to make sure you
understand what we’re getting ready to
do i want us to pray now
all of us out loud okay
i want us to pray out loud for the
president the vice president for karen
for all of their families
their loved ones let’s pray for their
protection
let’s pray for this nation and after a
few minutes
i will close us in prayer but right now
let’s call upon the name of god and
let’s pray out loud
[Music]
pray the together of jesus christ for
this family
over his personal safety over his health
we need them oh god
[Music]
would you clear the enemy would you find
satan in jesus name and find his
minions that this president and vice
president could continue to bring
righteousness into this nation thank you
thank you
grace
on high places
hallelujah
our father and our god we come
to say thank you
but father our country is in trouble
we need your help
and father we pray today specifically
for the president
donald j trump
[Music]
father we know that he lost his best
friend
his brother just a few weeks ago
he hasn’t even had time to to mourn and
to grieve
and father we know how much he loved his
brother
father so we just pray that you would
comfort him
and today father as he makes an
announcement
as to who will fill the vacancy on the
supreme court
father give him wisdom to make
your choice for our nation
and the impact that that can have for
years to come
so father we thank you for him
melania all of their family
father thank you for vice president mike
pence and for karen
thank you that they came today to honor
not us but to honor you and to
participate in this prayer
so father we give you the praise and we
give you the glory
and it’s in jesus name that we pray
amen
the vice president and karen will be
leaving at this time
we’d like to ask everybody just to hold
in place for a few moments
and then we’ve got some announcements i
just want to kind of share with you
what the plan is okay and where we’re
going to go and
and so we can all participate together
and do that so thank you mr vice
president thank you
karen for coming today
you are watching an extraordinary event
in our nation’s capital
prayer march 2020 tens of
thousands of people gathered for the
sole purpose of praying
hello i’m mike huckabee and i’m
graham
lynch what a beautiful moment we’re
witnessing here at our nation
or our nation’s capital this is an
inspiring moment when people are coming
together
not for a political speech not even to
rally for any particular political cause
but to pray this is uh the
really the dream of franklin graham
somebody i think you know
fairly well your dad yes you know
my dad knows he loves this country
but he knows we are in trouble we’re in
trouble racially
morally spiritually and we’re in a
political year
he knows no politician is going to be
able to fix it no political party only
god can heal this country
and that is what today is about for a
nation to get on their knees and to pray
to god to ask for repentance
and lift up this country in prayer well
we’ve already seen some extraordinary
moments
vice president mike pence his wife karen
as the vice president spoke powerfully
speaking
and then after that prayers by michelle
bachmann and bishop harry jackson and of
course franklin graham
leading the congregation who is gathered
here in prayer
it’s already been an extraordinary day
and
we’ve just getting started i i think one
of the things i would mention
is that these thousands of people
have come from all over america at their
own expense
they’re coming to pray for the country
to pray that there could be
reconciliation between democrats and
republicans and among races
uh they’re not here to cause trouble
they’re here to solve
the trouble that our land is in yeah
they have a burden
and they want to pray and call on god
and it’s great to see
those shots you see all generations old
to young
and as we come today it’s important that
we remember in the bible
the lord said to king solomon if my
people who are called by my name
will humble themselves and pray and seek
my
face and turn from their wicked ways
then i will hear from heaven
and i will forgive their sin and i will
heal
their land a great reminder from the
book of
2nd chronicles chapter 7 14. now all
along this march today
people are going to be humbly seeking
god turning to him
and turning away from sin by the way
that is god’s chosen
order you can’t respond to a prideful
spirit that says
we’ve not sinned and like any
relationship
we have to admit when we’ve done wrong
and then we commit
to stop the wrongdoing that takes
humility
but that’s what brings reconciliation
and healing
and right now everyone will be heading
to the world war ii memorial which is
about a 10 minute walk
east and this memorial is truly
stunning not only is it breathtaking to
walk
through it symbolizes the absolute best
of the american people it truly does
honors sacrifice commitment those are
all words that come to mind when you’re
thinking about the world war ii memorial
and for me one of the most i guess
striking elements is the large
field of gold stars that’s on the west
side
each one of those stars represents 100
americans who died
in the war there’s a wall of over 4
000 stars reflecting the price that our
country paid
to defeat tyranny and to secure our
freedom
you know when we’re talking about prayer
today and i know there’s many people
at home and this has been a difficult
year
for many people has and you’re wondering
does god
hear my prayers prayer’s a difficult
subject sometimes
you know before you were a governor you
were a pastor
and i’m sure many people come and ask
does god hear my prayers and i think of
the story
of louis zepperini as we’re getting
ready to come up to this memorial
some say it was the greatest generation
of all time
and he was an olympic hero but then he
went to go serve
this country and his plane went down in
the pacific and he was on a raft for
days and weeks
and he didn’t even know god but he cried
out to god and so many people in those
desperate situations
even if they’re not christians they cry
out to god
and he said god if you save me i’ll give
my life to you well he forgot about that
prayer
and it was years and years later when he
had come back home
it was at my grandfather’s crusade in
california and he gave his life to
christ because he remembered
that prayer and his was a life
well-lived a life of great faith and
testimony
you know this uh this wonderful sight is
testament to what a united america can
do
it really reminds us of the moral
strength and the awesome power that can
flow
when free people come together in a
righteous cause
now i i know that you and your
family you guys have uh
been great supporters of the military so
am i
but there’s a reason that you have is
because you’ve got some folks that have
been involved and so you know what it’s
like to pray
months on end for a member of your own
family
serving our country in uniform yep my
brother edward
i have three older brothers he’s the
youngest of the three
but he served 16 years in this army he
was a west point graduate
and he served multiple combat
deployments
so my heart goes out to all those who
are praying because i’ve seen
the power of a praying mom on her knees
you know praying that her child comes
home safely
and i know many of you watching today
you
have loved ones that you’ve been praying
for for their return and my heart goes
out to you today
we want to say thanks to all of you who
are participating
either online or by way of tbn
broadcasting this event live from our
nation’s capital
it’s an extraordinary day thousands of
people gathered right here in washington
to do something that maybe washington
hasn’t seen in a while
massive masses of people just here to do
one thing
pray for this country now we’re going to
be hearing a little from edward
later on at the world war ii memorial
but right now
it’s my pleasure to introduce tonya lyon
to you she’s on the mall and she’s going
to be giving us some updates along the
way
tanya what’s it feel like down there
mike thank you so much you know you used
the word congregation
a little bit earlier and that’s what it
feels like down on the national mall
today it’s such an honor to be here with
as you mentioned tens of thousands of
people the official estimate as i
understand it is
50 000 people are here on the national
mall today to participate
in this prayer march 2020. and we’re
standing
in front of the lincoln memorial where
um
certainly we’re reminded that this
country was built on strength
and we’re reminded that this country was
built on
the lives of people who chose to stand
up for what was right even
when it was difficult and that’s what it
feels like here today
it was so interesting to hear franklin
graham asking people to pray
after the vice president prayed and it
got quiet
here on the national mall and people
then started lifting their voices to
pray
out loud for our president our vice
president for our leaders in this nation
there’s such a sense of unity and
compassion
and belief that god is going to do
something special
so many people that i’ve had a chance to
talk to as you mentioned from all over
the country
have been saying things like i believe
god is going to help this nation
make a turn and that we’re going to look
back on this day and see
a change in our nation other people
quoting the bible saying things like i
believe god’s going to do immeasurably
more
than we ask or imagine and we’re going
to look back on this day
to know that that’s when it happened so
what am i seeing out here
i’m seeing hope i’m seeing hope in the
eyes of young people
i’m seeing hope in the eyes of people
who are in wheelchairs
here to walk in wheelchairs today so i
think we’re going to see
a lot of passion i think we’re going to
see a lot of humility
and i’m looking forward to doing this
march with you so
back to you as we continue our coverage
of prayer march 2020.
he’s a decorated veteran a best-selling
author and an advocate for military
families
we are delighted to welcome colonel
oliver north colonel great to see you
governor great to be with you
thank you and and to have
with us and
you know this is a special day of prayer
prayer is
spiritual warfare it’s battle but you’re
used to battle
not just spiritual you were in combat
you had people shoot
at you tell me how you correlate what
it’s like to be in
military battle and spiritual battle
what
i came to know my lord and savior jesus
christ
when i was 35 years old i was a marine
major
by the example of another person i had
never read this book from cover to cover
more than once
right it’s the only book i’ve now read
even you and i write great books it’s
the only one i’ve read from cover to
cover
many times and the prayer that i just
led at the at the
world war ii memorial is the soldier’s
psalm
praying for america’s military america’s
law enforcement
and our veterans families and those
around active duty
this country has never been through what
we’re going through today
i mean even the the great plague of the
1918 epidemic or pandemic was nothing
like what we’ve got today
and our country is desperately in need
of a spiritual
revival and what we’re seeing happen on
the mall of america right now
right out here is an example of the kind
of warfare that we’re in
satan is alive and well right and he’s
taking advantage of the pandemic
the discord that’s going on in our
country and so everyone out here with
franklin
your dad what a magnificent leader just
like the governor here
knows the idea that this is the
ammunition prayer
is the ammunition that we need to fight
this fight
you have done a lot of work with the uh
freedom alliance to help military
families because
they’re under the gun literally when
they’re in battle
but when they come home they’re still
under the gun they are and the recovery
process for those who’ve been wounded
over 40 000 who’ve been wounded badly
the families of those who were killed
the scholarships that we give to those
youngsters who’ve lost a parent in the
line of duty in this war
they’re the kinds of people who become
the leaders of this country
as long as they know that we’re
spiritually motivated
there’s nothing political about anything
that we do what we’re
what we’re trying to do is make this
make sure that the next generation of
leaders
i have to confess i’m motivated in many
respects by the 18 grandkids you know
that i’ve got
and i want them to have a place that’s
home for them
on this planet during their lifetime
absolutely i think many of us are here
because we’re here for that next
generation
and fighting for that next generation
but colonel
with your you’re a military historian do
you believe that god still governs the
affairs of men
the good lord knows what’s going to
happen he’s calling on us to recognize
that what we often see as obstacles
are really opportunities right that’s
what this march is all about
this is an opportunity for america to
revitalize itself
spiritually in the ammunition is prayer
and so i’m hopeful that what we’re
seeing today
with all the the involvement of
everybody who came together very quickly
thanks to your dad
the idea of turning to prayer and asking
god to bless this nation
as he has before as long as we turn to
him
and don’t try to solve it politically we
spiritually have got to revitalize
ourselves and this is an opportunity to
do so
well thank you so much for joining us
this afternoon colonel norris
there’s much more to come as prayer
march 2020 continues
stay with us
the church faces the giant of
indifference
of unbelief prayerlessness lack of a
devotional life
hypocrisy a lack of courage on the part
of church members
to stand up for christ a hundred
million or more people in the united
states are members of churches
suppose that hundred million people in
america
were living for god loving god with all
their heart mind and soul and loving
their neighbors themselves
what a transformation would take place
in the american nation
the very word christian means commitment
decision choice change
challenge it means that we get out and
march for christ
it means that we commit ourselves that
we believe in something
and that we give it all we’ve got
[Music]
in just a moment we’ll be at the world
war ii memorial
where we’ll pray for those brave men and
women
who have chosen to serve and to protect
and defend our country
they risk their lives every day to
maintain law and order
and to keep us safe so we’re lifting up
our military our police
other law enforcement first responders
and their families
we’ll also ask almighty god to provide
security
and peace for our divided nation
i want to invite you to pray with us
at our next prayer stop in just a few
minutes
[Music]
earth to god
come in god
i know you’re there hearing our prayers
wherever you are
we need you now
to send your love down
take away the pain in your holy name
we ask this now
we need your light we need your love to
heal the world you
made and save us now
and our darkest down with your amazing
grace earth to god
we’re holding on
but not for long
[Music]
can you pull us all close to the holy
ghost
and keep us strong
we need your light we need your love to
heal the world
earth to god
[Music]
god earth to god
coming god
[Music]
and save
[Music]
[Music]
god
[Music]
what a beautiful song that’s john rich
country singer country songwriter
an inspired song earth to god
what a day this has already been
we’ve seen the vice president your dad
has led the march they’re on their way
from the lincoln memorial down to
the world war ii memorial it’s already
an amazing experience
yeah you know earth to god that the
creed of the universe his ear is
inclined to us the scriptures say
and with the backdrop of the lincoln
memorial
where many famous speeches have been
given i have a dream being one of the
most famous but when you look at lincoln
here was a man in some of the darkest
days in this nation
a pivotal time in our nation a divided
time but he was a man who mastered the
scriptures
he knew god’s word he knew what he
believed and why
he was full dependence for god’s wisdom
and understanding what a beautiful place
that vice president
who is the same looks to god for wisdom
and understanding
it is a great experience you know mike
pence and his wife karen
authentic believers this is not
something they’re doing because
you know it’s been told to them hey it
would be a nice thing for you to show up
they truly are very dedicated believers
in jesus christ
and committed to the scriptures and i
think it was so fitting and appropriate
that they were there
and this song i want to go back to that
a minute because i asked john rich about
the writing of the song he said it came
to him in less than 30 minutes
he just felt like in the midst of all
that america has been through with the
pandemic so many people in despair it
was like that collectively our nation
was crying out to god almost as if
we were trying to get a signal make sure
that he was hearing us
and i thought it captured it so
beautifully now this has been a
difficult time for many people
especially this year i’m a mom many of
us moms had to start homeschooling and
balancing work
people have lost their jobs the economy
the racial division
and those prayers are crying out to him
and it’s just beautiful
he said it was like an sos well and uh
speaking of sos i feel like that all
these thousands and
thousands of people who have gathered
from all over the country
as they march for seven different stops
along the way between the lincoln
memorial
and our nation’s capital and at each
stop they’re praying for specific
parts of our nation and its people but
you know i think it’s important
that you know that if you’re at home you
don’t have to physically be in
washington to join with this prayer
march
you can be praying with these folks
right where you are
in your home uh you can pray if you’re
listening in your car
by one of the apps of tbn that maybe uh
how you’re
accessing this but join with these
people
don’t just be a spectator i think
we want these folks to be
a participator in the prayer we want you
to feel like we’re here i know we would
like to be down there
a little adult it’s very emotional
you’ve seen uh people
marching and walking like i said earlier
of all ages i love seeing i even saw
some people
with some walkers out there and we’re
getting ready to go to a video of my
grandfather
billy graham we all remember that great
picture
of george washington kneeling at valley
forge
when in the midst of the battles of the
revolutionary war
and george washington came to the end of
himself and it looked like that the
little army was
almost completely defeated when george
washington got on his knees and called
upon god to help him
and out of that prayer came victory for
the revolutionary forces
and brought about the freedoms that we
now know our early forefathers like
thomas jefferson
and benjamin franklin were great men
that believed in almighty god
and ladies and gentlemen the next
generations
that followed began to go to church and
they believed in god
only as an afterglow and in our
generation
memorial and we come to this site
because we we want to remember the men
and women
who have fought the battles of this
nation to defend our freedom
and the blood that has been shed for our
freedom
and we thank god that he sent his son
jesus christ who shed his blood for our
freedom
and we know if we put our faith and
trust in his son jesus christ that god
will forgive our sins and heal our
our hearts but heal our country and so
today to pray
we’ve got lieutenant colonel oliver
north who’s going to lead in prayer
vice president myron lizar
vice president of the navajo nation
and the navajo nation played a big role
in the in world war ii uh the code
talkers
the japanese could not break the navajo
language
and so um he will be praying here at
this monument
and then my son edward graham who served
16 years in special operations with
eight combat deployments
he will be praying and then mr tony
perkins
president of the family research council
and so lieutenant colonel north please
i’m going to use the psalm 91 as a
prayer
for protection he dwells in this shelter
of the most high will rest in the
shadows of the almighty
i will say of the lord he is my refuge
and fortress my god and whom i trust
surely he will save you from the fowler
snare and the deadly pestilence
he will cover you with his feathers
under his wings and find refuge in his
faithfulness will be your shield and
rampart
you will not fear the terror of the
night or the arrow that flies by day
nor the pestilence that stalks in the
darkness nor the plague that destroys at
midday
a thousand may fall at your side ten
thousand your right hand but it will not
come near you
you will only observe with your eyes and
see the punishment of the wicked
if you make the most high your dwelling
even the lord who is your refuge
then no harm will befall you and no
disaster will come near your tent
for he will command his angels
concerning you
to guard you in all your ways they will
lift you up in their hands
so that they will so you will not strike
your foot against the stone you’ll tread
upon the lion and the cobra you shall
trample the great lion and the serpent
because he loves you says the lord
i will rescue him and i will protect him
for he acknowledges my name
he will call upon me and i will answer
him i will be with him in trouble i will
deliver him and honor him
with long life i will satisfy him and
show him my salvation i offer this
prayer
in the name of my savior jesus christ
for every soldier sailor airman
guardsman marines
law enforcement officer and their
families god bless you
thank you thank you franklin
i’m going to read from first corinthians
14 10 and then pray
there are it may be so many kinds of
languages in the world
and none of them is without significance
father god isn’t it fitting that we are
here at the world war ii memorial
where we’re reminded that the navajo
code talkers and other native tongues
helped deliver america in its most
trying time in the pacific theater
first nations people or the host people
helped deliver america
when you oh lord reminded us that there
is no language that is insignificant
since 1975 billy graham’s words for
first nations
you are a sleeping giant the original
american you are
now awakening just around the corner you
may become a spiritual superpower in
this country
that could change not only america but
the world
we as first nations we are the host
people in the land
you creator god set us here on this
continent we are still here
prophetically you gave the late billy
graham words that gave our people hope
could it be that you will deliver that
you will use first nations
once again to help deliver america in
this last trying time
to be a modern day code talker to bring
new messages of healing
and reconciliation to a spiritually dry
and starving land
we thank you our creator god bonnie
god shiddi and god yeah oh
thank you jesus in jesus mighty name we
pray amen
amen
let us pray lord we come to you thank
you for the gift of prayer that we can
talk to you our lord and savior
and lord right now i just asked that we
lift up those fighting overseas right
now so many of my friends
so many of my fellow rangers are
currently serving in combat lord i pray
for a hand of protection on them
watch over the marines the sailors the
air force
the coast guard the army all that are
serving right now lord just
a hand of protection to comfort them and
their family lord we thank you for so
many that had
answered the calling to serve this great
nation i thank you for the privilege
that i got to serve it
but lord i right now i just pray for
those that paid the ultimate sacrifice
we pray for their families
those those service members that
couldn’t be here we thank you for that
but lord right now i especially lift up
our law enforcement and our first
responders
lord an ugliness a great sin and a lie
has turned towards them
lord we ask for your hand of protection
we give thanks for them in their service
we give thanks for that their ability
and their willingness and desire to come
and serve others
lord we pray for a healing that only you
can bring about as in john 17 it says
sanctify him with the truth lord your
word is the truth we pray for your word
to come down in jesus name i pray
amen
as a marine veteran and a former police
officer i’m grateful for this
opportunity to pray at this memorial
jesus in john chapter 15 verse 13 said
greater love
hath no one than this that one would lay
down his life
for his friends father i thank you as we
stand
at this memorial that represents
selflessness and courage lord two things
that mark this nation
that shows us that your sustaining
presence remains because men and women
are still willing to lay down their
lives for others
and lord we are grateful for that and we
pray for our military but we pray also
as edward did for our law enforcement
lord as lawlessness has been unleashed
upon this nation
lord i pray for courage to uphold the
truth
courage and bravery to lay down our
lives for something that is greater than
ourselves and that is the kingdom of god
and the truth that sets men women and
children free
may the truth may the transcendent truth
of the gospel of jesus christ be
released upon this nation
as we stand with courage and
selflessness
and bravery thank you for those that
have gone before
us lord may we not falter may we not
fail on this our watch in jesus name
amen
well if you’re just joining us you are
witnessing
an extraordinary day in our nation’s
capital prayer march 2020.
seven stops between the lincoln memorial
and our nation’s capital there are
thousands and thousands of people who’ve
come from all over the country
to simply march this length of our
nation’s capital
and they’re praying they’re not doing
political speeches they’re praying
what you just witnessed was franklin
graham for whom this was
his vision and his dream to have a day
of prayer and he introduced to us
colonel oliver north myron lizer who’s
vice president of the navajo nation
edward graham and tony perkins who
prayed at the world war
ii museum it it’s it’s a pretty
remarkable thing just to be
watching all of this and being part of
it that’s a unique stop
you know as we talked earlier about the
world war ii and my brother i got a
little emotional
where many of his friends haven’t come
home there’s many gold star families out
there
and to pray and to lift those families
up
who’ve endured a lot our country
is only here because people made the
ultimate sacrifice they paid with their
lives
to keep the rest of us free and one of
the things that’s happening in this
prayer march today is a reminder to be
grateful for those folks who have served
in uniform our military first responders
police officers and that’s what we’ve
just been witnessing
it is an extraordinary experience and as
we said earlier
we know that many of you you’re watching
by way of
tbn or maybe you’re watching online
but we’ve asked you don’t just watch
join
join in prayer lift up
these parts of our nation that we’re
highlighting in the seven stops
along our nation’s capital i think
that’s a very
very important thing for us to do now i
know that many of you
may be wondering what difference will
this possibly make
to have this event i want to tell you a
story about a man his name is daniel
now he lived during a time when his
nation had come
under god’s judgment that might sound a
little familiar
for an entire generation his people were
held
captive by their enemy and separated
from god’s blessing
but he was persistent in his prayers for
deliverance
the bible says that daniel cried out to
god
lord listen lord forgive
lord hear and act for your sake
my god do not delay because your city
and your people bear your name
and god heard those desperate pleas and
answered daniel’s prayers
and we’re following his example today
crying out to god
on behalf of our nation there’s more to
come
thank you for joining us in prayer today
there is tremendous power in prayer
through prayer you can call down the
power of heaven in any situation
any time anywhere for anybody
for anything we’re about to call upon
god
again at the washington monument
uh we’re going to be praying for the
salvation of the lost
uh for a renewed strength in our
families
for a cure to the corona virus pandemic
and a vaccine
that has not just ravaged our country
but the world
and we’ll be praying for the medical
workers those that are on the front line
and also an end to abortion
you might say well franklin those are
mighty big prayer requests
that’s right they are but we serve a
mighty big god
the bible says god is able to do
exceedingly and abundantly
above all that we ask or think
so get ready and pray with us
i believe in a god who not only hears
our prayers but i believe in a god who
can answer them
o beautiful
for spacious skies
forever waves of
grain
for purple mountains
majesty
above the fruited
paint america
oh man
god shed his grace on me
and crown thy good
[Music]
america
america
god shed his grace
home
and crown thy good
with brother
from sea to shining
sea and
clown thy good
with brother
from sea to
shining sea
get ready to be right here at the
washington
monument and our prayers continue so we
invite you to join with us
as we pray for those who are lost that
they will find salvation through jesus
christ
and we also want to lift up our families
and ask for renewed
strength during this time well you know
there’s so many people that are being
prayed for today people like our
front-line
medical workers we’re always wanting to
remind ourselves that there are people
who make great sacrifices for us
i i’m impressed with the number of
people who have gathered
i must be honest i didn’t expect
this many people to
come from all over the country with a
pandemic going on
but people wanted to be here they wanted
to be able to pray
to lift their nation up in prayer not a
political event but a prayer event
and i’m so grateful for your dad
franklin graham for the vision of this
i think what’s significant is
samaritan’s purse the organization that
he heads
reaches out and helps people through so
many disasters right now
the aftermath of hurricane laura
hurricane sally
the wildfires in california samaritan’s
purse
they’re always there and it’s because
people
pray and then they act upon their
prayers and today people are acting upon
their prayers
joining together with franklin graham
and samaritan’s purse
uh to be here in our nation’s capital
let’s go to franklin graham once again
he’s joined now by
pastor skip heidzig jerry privo and
kelvin
cochrane
we’re here at the washington monument
we’re here to pray
we want to remember the salvation of the
lost
renewed strength for our families
and for healing as it relates to the
chronovirus
that god would give us give our leaders
solutions
to this pandemic on how to treat it how
to
vaccinate against it
and all the front-line workers
that are dealing with this pandemic
and coming to to pray are
pastor skip heitzek calvary chapel of
albuquerque
one of the largest churches in the
southwest
then dr jerry privo who is
president of liberty university and dr
calvin cochran
chief operating officer of elizabeth
baptist church
and so i’m going to ask skip and then
jerry prevost dr prevo and then calvin
cochran
all right let’s pray father we want to
thank you
that we have the holy spirit living
inside of us
thank you lord that jesus said when the
holy spirit comes he will convict the
world of sin
and of righteousness and of judgment of
sin because they do not believe in you
father we pray that you would open up
the blind
eyes of people around even as they watch
this prayer march and they see
the peaceful nature of it father we pray
that you’d convict them
that you draw them to jesus show them
that there’s only
hope in jesus christ alone
father we do pray that you would give
wisdom to doctors to medical
professionals those who are doing
research to find
not only therapeutics but a vaccine
father healed this land
of this plague that has taken the lives
of so many
we pray lord that you would protect
those of us who are here today
but father we pray that you would heal
those who are not here because they’re
sick
father we pray that you put an end show
us how
give us a way to show an end to this
awful plague
of abortion that has uh afflicted this
country lord
so many beautiful lives that have been
have been snuffed out father we pray
that
you’d forgive us of our sins as a nation
you turn this nation
back to you and we we ask for your
forgiveness
in jesus name amen amen amen
thank you skip let’s pray our heavenly
father we thank you today that we have
the privilege to be
here in washington d.c thank you for
franklin graham
who called us here to pray for our
nation
and lord we do pray today lord our
nation has lost the lord it’s
its trail its inheritance uh its
original beliefs and lord i pray that
you’ll raise up
leaders that will believe in you and
recognize you like the founding fathers
of this great nation did
and lord as we continue to pray today we
pray for
those who don’t know you as their
personal savior
dear lord jesus we know that you love
the whole world
and lord whosoever shall believe in you
shall not
perish but have everlasting life
now lord we’re going through a pandemic
you know all about that
and lord maybe this is what is needed to
call so many people to come to the place
where they’ll repent of their sin
they’ll become a believer
but lord i pray for those who have been
so seriously affected by it
those who’ve lost loved ones because of
death
from this pandemic i pray that you’d
comfort their heart
lord i pray that everyone that’s lost
their life i pray that they were a
believer in you
and lord we come today thank you for
these thousands of believers who are
here
and lord you’ve told us if we will come
your people
will come and call up your name and lord
you will heal
our land and we call upon you today for
that healing
lord we pray today for our not only our
our federal uh elected officials
not only our congressmen here not only
our senators not only our president not
only our
vice president but we pray for every
state leader
across this country give us governors
that will
believe in you like our vice president
pence talked about a few moments ago
give us assembly members give us
governors and give us legislators
give us citizen state houses across this
nation
lord we just need people to be bold and
lord we thank you for this group that’s
gathered here today to be
bold and to come to this prayer march
and to pray for
this country pray for each other pray
lord that
we will see revival in this country lord
that you bring many to a belief
in you again we thank you for all of
these thousands of people who’ve
gathered here today
and for franklin graham being led of you
to call this prayer march today in jesus
name we pray
and all god’s people said amen
heavenly father this is the day that you
have made
and we your sons and daughters have
gathered on this
nation’s capital from sea to shining sea
to rejoice and to be glad in it father
we thank you that you have blessed us to
be
citizens of the united states of america
the land
of the free and the home of the brave
and we pray dear god that today will be
cleared the day that the
united christians of the united states
of america
came together for a prayer that you
would forgive us for our sins and that
you would heal our land
father i lift up families in the body of
christ and in our nation today
and pray dear god that you would use
families as you intended before the
foundation of the world
to manifest your glory within families
and to spread your glory
all over this nation from one nation to
another and all over the world
father i pray that you will return the
hearts of fathers back to their children
and you will return the hearts of
children back to their fathers
and that fathers would love their
children and not provoke them to anger
and that children will be obedient to
their parents
pray dear god that husbands will love
their wives as christ loved the church
and gave himself for them that as you
promised to your servant abraham that
through
through families all nations of the
earth shall be blessed
father we lift up health care providers
in our country who are
on the front lines every day caring for
the sick
who have been afflicted by covet 19. we
pray your blessed protection
over them even beyond their personal
protective equipment we pray
your sovereign angels be encamped all
around them to keep them in all their
ways so that they will
be able to provide the care that you
have called them to provide and to be
able to go home safely to their families
we pray dear god that you would speak to
those scientists that are working
towards the cure for the vaccine
and in your sovereign will we pray that
you would give them the solution
in your own divine time father we pray
that you would
open our eyes as your sons and daughters
that we would see what you would have us
to see and open our hearts that we would
do what you have
us to do unite us as a family of god
let it be known today dear god in the
united states of america that you alone
o
god our lord and that you have used
these circumstances to bring us
back together and to turn our hearts
towards you again
and we’ll be careful to give you all the
praise in jesus name
amen
well welcome back we’ve just been
witnessing some prayers that have been
delivered at the
washington monument here on prayer march
2020
in our nation’s capital now as we leave
the impressive washington monument
i want to let you know that there are
scriptures carved on the memorial blocks
in the walls there
and there’s an inscription on the east
side at the peak so it’s facing the
rising sun
it’s the latin phrase laos dayo which
translate
praise be to god despite
efforts to rewrite history and deny in
our country’s judeo-christian heritage
we see signs of it everywhere on this
national mall
you know god was with us in the
beginning he’s brought us through dark
and chaotic times before
and i believe as we look to him he’s
going to bring us through again
i really believe it and i’m seeing some
real evidence of that just by the
prayers of people here in our nation’s
capital
i think the people in this crowd believe
that too and
as they head toward the white house
which is the next stop
we’re going to be back in a moment so
stay with us
right now we want to pause to pray for
those that work in the executive branch
we’ll be able to see the the white house
in the background
from where we stand down the washington
monument hill
and i think about the white house and
that executive branch
is not just the president vice president
but it’s the staffs
it’s all those his cabinet all those
that advise him
they’re making decisions every day and
they just need god’s wisdom
so we’re going to pray for those that
are in the executive branch that god
would guide and direct
their each and every step and that the
decisions that they’re made
will be according to his plan and his
purpose
so let’s let’s gather together in prayer
for those that serve at the white house
among god’s spokesman who were
ministering to the spiritually hungry
was a man who only two years earlier
had organized the first evangelistic
rally ever held on the steps of the
nation’s capital
dr william franklin graham
to millions of americans he was plain
billy graham a dynamic preacher
whose phenomenal success in getting
folks back to church
was evidence enough that he had been
singled out by god for his job
for america to turn back to god and back
to christ and
back to the bible at this hour we have
been the recipients
of the choicest bounties of heaven we
have been preserved
these many years in peace and prosperity
we’ve grown in number wealth and power
as no other nation is grown but we have
forgotten god
i ask the united states senate and
congress
to request the president once again in
our crisis
when we stand on the evis of national
destruction and catastrophe
to call our people to prayer
you know when the white house comes in
view we’ll be praying specifically
for the president and the vice president
and their families
plus all those who work in the white
house and the executive branch of our
government
but governor you’re one of the few men
who’ve dared to run for that
intimidating office
what would give you the urge to take on
such a great responsibility
well thank you so much for reminding of
how that turned out
uh you know it was a great privilege to
have grown up as i did
just a poor little insignificant kid in
hope arkansas and yet
to be able to one day run for president
of the united states it’s a testament
of what this country is about that we
get to lead our own country now the
people chose someone else
and that’s fine but the beautiful thing
is that we have
come to a place in our country where we
choose our government not many people on
earth have that kind of privilege
that’s an important thing that we should
never forget
all right i think we’ve got to go to
franklin graham paula white kane and
pastor
greg laurie at the white house
we’re here at the washington monument
with a view of the white house behind us
and at this vantage point i think it’s
important that we pray
not just for the president and vice
president but for all those that work in
the
executive there’s so many
i’m talking about the cabinet i’m
talking about all the staff
so many people that are serving our
country that you don’t even know their
names
and faithfully serving and we just want
to pray for them today
and we’re so thankful so i’m going to
lead and then after
i pray paula white
is going to come and she’s been very
instrumental in
putting together a faith leadership team
around the president
and then pastor greg laurie from
riverside california
greg is a member of our board of
directors has been a friend for
over 30 years but let’s pray
our father and our god
we come and we stand here on this
well today is hallowed ground
and father we pray for this city we pray
for the white house
that’s behind us and those that work and
serve
there we pray for president
donald j trump and vice president mike
pence we pray for all the cabinet
for all the staff for all those that are
advising
and that are making decisions each and
every day
and father we know today that the
decision
to who will replace
the vacancy on the supreme court will be
announced in just a short time
and father whoever that person is we
just pray for them right now
that they will be your woman on that
supreme court
that she will be a voice for
righteousness
for thy word protect her whoever she may
be father
we just pray right now thank you father
for this great privilege thank you for
this nation
thank you for the freedoms that we have
in this nation forgive us of our sins
father
father we come today confess that we
have sinned as a nation
we repent we turn from our sins
and father we come today and we put our
faith and trust in your son jesus christ
thank you for sending him to take our
sins to die on a cross
and that you raised him to life we know
that anyone puts their faith and trust
in him will not be disappointed
thank you father and we pray this in
jesus name
amen
father we just come to you right now in
the name of jesus and we thank you that
we can enter in boldly by the superior
blood of jesus
we lift up our president president
donald j trump
we lift up our vice president vice
president mike pence
we lift up every cabinet member right
now we put a hedge of fire around them
according to the book of zachariah
we ask that they would have the mind of
christ according to philippians 2
5. your word declares in proverbs
chapter 20 verse 12
that you give the ear for them to hear
and eye to see
so give them a spiritual ear and a
spiritual eye incline their heart
towards you
that they would walk in righteousness
surround them with godly counsel
let all that would bring wickedness in
be turned away and scattered in the name
of jesus that no weapon formed against
them will be able to prosper
we raise up a hedge around them and we
ask that you anoint them from the crown
of their head
to the soul of their feet let them lead
this nation
and let them lead everyone that they
have authority over
in righteousness god we repent for our
sin
we repent for the sins of our
forefathers god
and we ask you for the grace and the
mercy of jesus christ to cover us
to cover president trump to cover first
lady melania
to cover their children we put
protection around them
we send and dispatch angels to watch
over them
to war for them and speak to president
trump’s and dreams and visions god i ask
that you would speak to him
clearly by the voice of the spirit lord
let his ears be deaf to any voice that
is not of you
but everything that is of you let his
heart be open and receptive
and god i pray a supernatural strength
that you would strengthen him physically
emotionally spiritually in the name
which is above
every name the name of jesus christ god
and we just lift up your name over this
nation and we thank you for reverend
graham
we thank you for all of those who have
come to pray
and we ask for revival we ask for an
awakening
and just as we walk the the halls of the
white house and we pray every day god
and we see you do mighty things let it
continue lord
let this nation be a nation of
righteousness in the name above
every name the name of jesus christ amen
let’s pray lord you promised in
scripture if we will call upon you
you will hear us and deliver us and
we’re calling upon you now
we’re laying hold of that promise in
second chronicles 7 14
where you say if your people which are
called by your name
will humble themselves and pray and seek
your face and turn from our wicked ways
then you’ll hear from heaven and forgive
our sin and heal
our land so often we point to the white
house
as the problem but in reality you point
to your house
the church to us so lord we’re praying
right now
that revival will start here that we
could mark it in time
this momentous time here in the nation’s
capital
where we gather together to pray and we
think about in acts 12 where
things were bleak james had been
martyred and peter was in prison and we
read
and the church prayed they prayed unto
god together
so we’re your church in this place
praying together
acknowledging we need you we ask your
blessing on our president
on his family on the vice president
give them special wisdom in the days
ahead we commit our nation to you
and we pray that you will bless america
in jesus name we pray amen
well if you’re just joining us you are a
part of prayer march 2020 in our
nation’s capital
tens of thousands of people from all
over america gathered
to make seven stops between the lincoln
memorial and our nation’s capital which
you can see
right behind us and as they make these
stops
specific people are praying for aspects
of our nation
they’re praying for you and i hope
you’re praying for america
as well it’s a wonderful and beautiful
expression
of just recognizing that our country
really truly depends
upon our dependence upon god
cece i understand your grandfather has
had the unique
experience of praying with every u.s
president 12 presidents over the course
of his lifetime starting with harry
truman
through barack obama and president trump
spent time with your grandfather
even before he was a candidate for
president yeah
you know when you look back as we just
saw the white house
it has to be one of the loneliest
offices in the world
you think of the weight that is on one
man’s shoulders
and my prayer especially in the time
that we’re in now
is that the president would know that
he’s not alone that he can find refuge
in god
strength and god and wisdom and
understanding in god and i think
that’s what they found in my grandfather
he had friendships with many of them it
didn’t matter what political party it
was
but they had friendships with them but
they found counsel with him
and just that presence you know lyndon
johnson he wrote
a letter to my grandfather saying nobody
will
understand the moment and that moment of
darkness what you were to
me and the counsel that you gave me but
i know
and i’ll never forget you know when i
was just 15 years old
president george w bush requested that
my grandfather daddy bill is what i call
him
to speak at the national cathedral here
in washington
it was just three days after the 9 11
terrorist attacks
you know he was almost 83 years old and
it was very difficult for him to climb
those steep steps
but he was determined to bring the
nation a message of hope
and his words still ring true today
god can be trusted even when life seems
at its darkest
the cross tells us that god understands
our sin
and our suffering for he took upon
himself
in the person of jesus christ
our sins and our suffering
and from the cross god declares
i love you i know the heartaches and the
sorrows and the pains that you feel
but i love you i don’t know
not sure well that is a powerful
reminder for
all of us now there’s a lot more to come
but right now we’re going to go back
down on the national mall tonya is with
us
tonya what are you seeing down there
mike and thank you
i’m here with evangelist alvita king and
of course you know that name she’s the
niece of the slain civil rights
leader martin luther king jr and her
ministry
now is called civil rights for the
unborn
and i imagine as you look around here
you’re believing in big things
about what god will do through the
hearts of his people will you tell us
what you’re believing in today
i’m believing that god is touching the
hearts of all americans and all people
around the world
one race one blood acts 17 26
one ethnic group from the womb to the
tomb
that means the little babies in the womb
we don’t fight about skin color
ethnicity i see it i see the skin color
i celebrate celebrated ethnicity but
we’re one human race amen
and one family and that god will hear
our prayers and bless
us and what are you believing god will
do
in the wake of this march what will we
see god will hear our prayers
bless us and cause us to learn to work
together how do we do that how do we
learn to work together prayer and do
what we’re doing now amen
praise god amen well we’re going to let
you go you’re going to go pray right now
thank you so much
god bless you back to you as we continue
our prayer march 2020.
well we’re back here uh in our wonderful
position where we get to sort of oversee
the u.s capitol during the prayer march
but right now the group has gathered at
the national museum of african-american
history and culture
this is what now is the fifth stop of
seven stops
in the course of prayer march 2020.
so we’re going to go back down to uh the
prayers for these folks
my dad will be joined by daryl
strawberry
alvita king and jensen franklin
you know one of the things we see with
this is a wide variety of people
ministers people who are government
officials
but the one thing they have in common
they’re praying for america today
this isn’t a rally for democrats or
republicans or independents it’s
not a political thing at all it’s
strictly a day
for people to pray for our country with
all the problems we have in this nation
and the division and the polarization
i don’t have anything that can bring us
together
other than prayer and dependence upon
god and i think all of us are hoping
that that’s exactly
what is going to happen i think we’re
ready to go down and
see what’s happening at that place with
franklin graham
well we’re right now at the national
museum of african american history and
culture here on the mall and we want our
prayer focus
to be on compassion
kindness toward one another
respect reconciliation that is so
important today
and for the healing in our communities
across this country the bible says the
effective
fervent prayer of a righteous man avails
much
and here to lead in the prayers
daryl strawberry retired major league
baseball player
four-time world series champion
who’s been a not only a great friend
but he’s been a voice for righteousness
and for the lord jesus christ dr albeda
king
director of african american outreach
for the gospel of life
and pastor jensen franklin
senior pastor of free chapel and so
we’re going to ask now that
daryl strawberry would lead us in prayer
at this time
daryl thank you thank you very much
frankly graham thank you all for being
here
let’s just welcome the holy spirit in
the holy spirit you’re welcome here
father today we just come we just come
to pray we pray for compassion
we pray for kindness we pray for respect
we pray for reconciliation father
we pray for the violence to stop father
we pray for this nation right now
in the name of jesus father we must lead
them back to the cross
john 14 6 says jesus says i am the way
the truth and the life no one comes to
the father except through me
there’s only one way that they got to
come father and we just want to pray
right now we want to pray over the
hearts of the people
we want to pray for us to unite together
as people of race together father
we have been divided we have been torn
apart by the enemy we rebuke to devour
right now in the name of jesus
father we claim victory over this
country right now father no weapon
formed against us you’ll prosper
with more than conquerors through christ
jesus father we ask that you put a hedge
of protection thank you for this great
day you are the great i am
there is no one like you lord thank you
for all that you have done you have
lifted us up
as believers to come today to speak life
father and we speak
life over this country right now we pray
for we pray for every
dark situation every dark situation must
go
we rebuke that right now in jesus name
we rebuked it we thank you father
we thank you because you’re a good god
there is no one like you we thank you
for the grace
and mercy that you continue to give us
each day may we continue to be a voice
for the kingdom
matthew 6 33 says seek ye first the
kingdom of god is righteousness
then all these things will be added into
you father we seek after the kingdom not
the things
we seek after the kingdom of god and
your righteousness so we can be
righteous people so we can lead those
that are lost in this dark time father
father we thank you we love you we honor
you we praise you we give you glory
and there is no one like you lord there
is no one like you we exalt you right
now
in the name of jesus and we give you
glory amen and amen
[Applause]
to my brother franklin graham and your
whole family and all my brothers and
sisters
let us pray here we go hear our prayers
oh lord
hear our prayers
oh lord
incline your ear
to us
and grant us your peace
father in the name of jesus we ask
you to forgive us of all of our sins
like daniel
he prayed for his and a nation so did
esther lord god
and we’re here today doing the same
thing led by our bold brother
to come and just walk the grounds and
you told joshua every place that his
feet touched
he could claim it for you so we claim
this territory
for your kingdom father we have sinned
and
misunderstood or just on purpose thought
that we were separate races
we are one human race acts 17
26 says one blood lord god
we are one human race we’re not
colorblind we’re going to open our eyes
jesus gives sight to the blind
and we’re going to recognize ethnicity
and all the beauty that you gave us lord
so forgive us and let’s let us love
children
let us love life life liberty and the
pursuit of happiness
from the womb to the tomb
in jesus mighty name amen
let’s pray lord we thank you
that the first man that was ever covered
by the blood of sacrifice
was a black man by the name of simon
cyrene
he carried the cross and that blood on
that cross
covered him and his family we plead the
blood of jesus over our families and
over our nation
and over the racial division only you
can heal it
only you can make us a coat of many
colors again
it’s been torn to pieces the coat of
many colors but would you
carefully piece it back together father
with your healing hand
and lord we thank you that the cross was
an international cross
it had three different languages nailed
to it
king of kings was written in three
different languages
because the gospel is not an evangelical
white gospel
it’s all men for all people need the
cross and the blood of the lamb
so lord we point the nation to the lamb
of god that takes away the sins of the
world forgive us
cleanse us and heal us in jesus name
wow what a powerful moment as a year
that we’ve seen much
racial division you look at those three
that are praying
all come from different backgrounds all
have different stories you got a
baseball player with a great story of
redemption
dr alvita king a face that everybody
loves
and jensen franklin you know the
in this world of division even the
church has been divided lately on many
issues
that we have more in common than we
don’t
and that is jesus christ and as jensen
talked about the blood of jesus
that sets us free the truth will set us
free it was such a powerful moment
all three of these folks who prayed each
had a different perspective
you know you and i both know daryl
strawberry and know what an amazing
personal story he has if there ever was
a
story of redemption it’s the story of
daryl strawberry
and i was listening to him pray and i i
turned to you and i said
well there’s an authenticity about him
it’s so
genuine he’s a person whose life has
been overcome by the grace of god
i pray that what happened to him
individually will happen to our nation
that we will all be overcome by god’s
grace
alvida king’s prayer beautiful as always
and then jensen franklin
said something about simon of cyrene i
guess i’d never thought of that before i
know i
i was sure to think about i’m glad you
had you’re never thinking about that and
you’re a pastor
that’s good i thought that’s profound
i’d like to thank you jensen
that was really good well it is our hope
that as we
disperse from this event in just a
little while
that we’ll all continue praying every
day it’s not just a one day thing
cover your states your hometowns your
neighbors and families in prayer
i hope you’ll do it often and do it with
confidence as the bible says let us
therefore
come boldly to the throne of grace that
we may obtain mercy
and find grace to help in time of need
absolutely and thank god we still have
the freedom to pray in the public square
like we’re seeing
right now but we’ve got to be vigilant
to protect our religious freedoms the
secular forces are hard at work
trying to weaken even destroy the
religious liberties
set forth in our founding documents
well those inspired documents have a
permanent home in the national archives
that’s going to be our next prayer stop
visitors
can go and see the declaration of
independence the constitution of the
united states and the bill of rights
together these three are known as the
charters of our freedom
they’ve secured the rights of the
american people for more than
two and a quarter centuries governor
this has been an incredible day and it’s
been so encouraging to watch americans
exercise their religious beliefs
and to live out their faith and this is
what the founders
wanted to ensure they wanted that our
voices were heard in every aspect of
life
whether that’s in our jobs in our
communities not just inside of our
churches but yes
even in the public square they wanted
our voices to be heard
not silenced and i think that’s
what is just so magnificent about this
day
one of those voices is tonya lyons she’s
going to be standing by with a special
guest down on the mall tanya tell us who
you have with you
well mike and this gentleman needs
no introduction of course
sissy’s big brother and the vp of billy
graham evangelistic association and an
evangelist in his
own right will graham i’m with now
will when you look at this crowd and
when you’re in this place what strikes
you today
well it’s been this has been a huge
prayer group i mean that’s what this is
i think about sometimes in our dorm
rooms uh when we get together and have
prayer together as a group you know as a
whole dorm
this is a big dorm you might say and uh
we got people from all walks of
life i’ve been walking around and i love
geography so i ask people you know where
are you from
and we got people from albuquerque we
got people from
new jersey i mean we’ve got people from
all over the place
that have come here all different colors
all different races
different backgrounds religious
backgrounds i say religious different
denominations
but yet they come down and they pray
they’re praying for our country right
now and
and uh we go from one area to another
area right now
and it’s been interesting because a lot
of people’s up they just stop and they
hold hands and they just start praying
in a group of four
group of five and it’s just been a sweet
thing to watch and to be a part of and
uh and we’re just praying for our
country we love
our country we know things aren’t right
we see a lot of hate and division going
on
and we believe that prayer is that
answer to all those needs
and it’s interesting that you bring up
hate and division as we’re standing in
front of the
national museum of african american
history and culture
how do we bring that unity how is prayer
the answer i found i tell you when
you’re
if you’re upset with somebody you start
praying for that person because god
commands us to pray for our enemies and
you start praying for that person that
maybe
wronged you you start to realize you
know i don’t hate them as they
as they used to and i think when we
start praying for one another
and lifting each other up and we start
focusing on god
and taking it off ourselves even whether
it’s our hurt our own hurt
when we can start focusing on the lord
it seems to melt away it doesn’t mean
that everything’s made right in the
world but what happens is now we
you know what i see this person as a
child of god this is someone that god
loves
god loves me and you start to build a
relationship with that person and so
prayer is what can change things it’s
what moves in people’s hearts
and where that’s what we’re doing we’re
praying that god will change people’s
hearts and change will
graham’s heart yes you know and start
with mine lord
and that’s what we’re seeing and that’s
what we’re seeing so many thousands tens
of thousands of people here
and so it’s just been an interesting to
see all different walks of life
different economic economic statuses
different
racial statuses uh different
denominational statuses
all coming together different genders
all coming together
for one purpose to pray for one another
to pray for our country to pray for our
leaders
and ask god for spiritual healing as
you’re speaking will it strikes me that
you’ve been talking a lot about what’s
happening here on earth
about people praying for one another
about god changing our hearts and it
makes me wonder what’s happening in
heaven
what’s happening in heaven and i know
you’re not there but you’re an
evangelist and you know the heart of god
and i would wonder what is happening
in heaven now as tens of thousands of
people are on the lawn here in
washington d.c
well i think i think i think we are
looking at heaven right now
is what heaven looks like and uh all
different walks of life
praising the lord and i mean i just saw
a stranger down here on about
40 minutes ago just start singing
leading worship i don’t know who he was
but he was pretty good singer i can tell
you that
ricky scad is going to have his uh
better get that guy to help come
help him sing or something or michael w
smith but this guy here just leading
worship
and just people just proclaiming the
good news of christ and
and that’s what we’re praying for and um
it’s so fun because this is what heaven
really is going to be like
it’s going to be all different languages
different people all in heaven
and i think we’re just getting a small
glimpse of heaven right now i agree it
feels like heaven on earth
here in this atmosphere right now and
speaking of heaven
when your grandfather billy graham went
to heaven i know that you began research
on a book
that is out now because people wanted to
know how did billy graham become so
successful
what did you find in your research about
your grandfather’s work it was something
it was something that uh is when i was
leaving the the pastorate and i was
coming to work for
my father at the billy graham
evangelistic association
and uh he said well he said and i said
you know
i call him daddy bill that’s my name for
my grandfather it’s our
what us grandchildren call them and i
said daddy bill you know i believe god’s
called me away from the church now and i
don’t want to go but
um i feel like god’s calling me to come
and work at
the billy graham evangelistic
association he looked at me for a while
shook his head and said was uh he called
all his grandsons you know
sons son that’d be uh that’d be
wonderful we’d love to have you
and he said i want to give you two words
of advice he said
i want you to do i’m going to tell you
some things i learned
he said i wish i did less preaching
i wish i didn’t preach as much he said
but i wish i spent more time on my knees
he said
we should we could have seen so much
more if
we spent more time on our knees and
especially and he was talking about
himself because especially if i spent
more time on my knees instead of
preaching
but praying we could have seen even more
more people come to know christ
and so my my grandfather understood that
the battle
is not with the supreme court it’s not
done in the legislative in congress down
here
it’s not in the white house which is off
to my right right here
it’s done on our knees and that’s where
the real fight is
and um and so my granddaddy understood
that and so he said you know to make
sure that you pray
pray and pray that’s the key to seeing
people come to know christ and so i
gotta
constantly remind myself you know
sometimes i just need to shut up
and just do more more silence on my
knees and praying before the lord and i
can see more things come
thank you so much prayer often involves
a lot of listening
doesn’t it it does and i need to
practice my listening more often
thank you so much will graham back to
you now in the studio
she was the first republican woman to
represent minnesota in congress
she’s been a woman i’ve looked up to for
many years
and we’re very pleased to welcome former
congresswoman michelle bachmann
thank you for joining us today michelle
it’s always a good day when i’m
with you it’s been an incredible day so
far
oh it has and it’s going to be even
greater as the day goes on i’m thrilled
about the prayer march
so michelle you’ve always been open
about your faith when you were running
for office when you held
office why is it so important for
christians to be
open about their faith in the public
arena and especially the public square
yeah that’s a great question i think
it’s because
it should be that our faith is really
the lead part of our life it is our
identity
we are in jesus christ and so that
should be the tip of the spirit
not to be obtuse or obnoxious about it
but we’re to be
living christ’s values and so i think
that’s what it should be
this is a rough town i mean i think
that’s a very nice way to
you’ve been here you know you get it
yeah i stay away until i get my shots
and then i come back
but but there used to be a time
seriously when even democrats and
republicans were able to
pray together have bible studies
together
there was intense rivalry and
obvious competition but there’s a
meanness
now that that just didn’t exist why
has it gotten so like that and what is
the way to fix that
i think the reason why it’s like that is
because government’s become too
important
government wasn’t always this important
in our lives if you look at
the front pages of newspapers from 40
and 50 years ago
everything wasn’t government but today
so much power so much of our life is
controlled by government
especially now in this corona virus here
so
much of our every movement is mass the
whole thing are surrounded by
in its and been mandated by government
that
people just think that governments are
sourced for everything as believers we
know that god is our source
he’s our financial support our ego are
emotional he’s our support in every way
but it’s become too important
and so because of that people want to
grab as much
as they can for themselves and so their
worldview perspective
demands that government mandate what
they want and punish
other people who don’t want what they
want and that’s really why it’s become
so important it’s really a
zero-sum game now where everything is
about government and that’s
not god’s economy that is not god’s plan
great perspective michelle you raised
five children
20 foster children there’s many mothers
and parents i look the wear for it too i
got it
and really quickly what you know we’re
there’s many mothers who are concerned
about this generation how should we be
fighting and praying for this next
generation we’re raising
oh i love that question um i think it’s
important to realize that
once you have children they’re worth it
i mean they need to be your number one
in your life they deserve that
um it’s good for for mother and father
but it’s also good for them
and i think we need to recognize the
world is completely different than when
we were in high school
and so it’s especially important that we
protect their innocence that’s what god
says we’re to protect
childhood innocence and to do that we
need to protect what they take into
their ears
and their mind you know that song that
says be careful little ears what you
hear
i think it’s important as parents that
we are very careful we were restrictive
about what our children had
access to today it’s much harder they’ve
all got this
yeah and this is a very difficult issue
to deal with so i think
unless you’re a praying parent and ask
god for wisdom
and to protect and cover your children
we don’t have to walk in fear we don’t
have to have a spirit of fear and
neither do the children
but we need to pray over them every day
well michelle we miss you in congress i
will tell you that but i’m so happy you
are still doing the lord’s work right
here in the devil’s town
so keep up the good work hey there’s
more to come from the national mall and
prayer march 2020.
so stay with us everyone
in the modern world of transportation
and technology the whole world
has become a neighborhood without being
a brotherhood
and the whole world suddenly becomes our
neighbor and we have a responsibility to
them
you’re an energetic generation a
generation that could change the world
if you begin to march shoulder to
shoulder for jesus christ
and i think that’s great the world needs
changing
but you’ll never change it until you
link up with jesus christ and then
you’ll change it in the right way
jesus christ on that cross can transform
the human life
and change hate to love witness for him
be willing to choose for him suffer for
him die for him
jesus said follow me come and change the
world with me
with the national archives as the
backdrop
we invite you to join us and pray for
our religious freedom
and we’re asking for boldness for
churches to stand firm
with the word of god and to preach jesus
christ
in a troubled world well you know
i know that uh this whole day has been
marked by
it’s kind of an awe and wonder for me to
just see this many
people come out uh just to pray we’ve
had some great guests you know i i got
to be honest one of my favorite moments
today has been this
song by john rich earth to god it sort
of sums up
everything that we’ve been a part of the
people of god
crying out and asking for his
intervention
in our country and so you know when we
go to the national archives we’re going
to see the great documents of our
country the things that
that has given us our underpinnings our
foundation
and governor you’ve written that in your
recent book the three c’s that made
america great again
or made america great i don’t want to
mix it up so it doesn’t make america
great
tell us about the third c constitution
well what makes
our constitution so unique is that it’s
a document that empowers people not
government
most people never read it to understand
that it doesn’t say
government here’s what you can do it
says government here’s what you
can’t do because the people are free and
you can infringe upon their liberties
and their freedom
for example every one of the bill of
rights is a restriction of government
not one of them is a restriction on
people not one time
did our founders say okay people you
can’t do this so the do’s and don’ts are
not given to the people
we’re assumed to have liberty it’s the
government that’s been throttled back
and
boy do we need that lesson again and a
reminder
so when people stop by the national
archives today and they see the
declaration and they see the bill of
rights
and they see our constitution i hope
they embrace what a unique inspired
document
that we live with in this country
because uh
it’s it’s the longest document of
time that has governed a country in the
history of mankind most constitutions
only last
20 50 years and then they’re thrown away
and started over
ours has been going for well over 200
years and that’s remarkable you know and
another c
in your book is christianity yeah you
know and we’re here
to be in the public square praying
lifting up the voice of god and praying
for him
but you know what is christianity what
is the proof that’s there
that it was with our founding fathers
here in the beginning of this nation
even in our declaration of independence
they understood
that we hold these truths to be
self-evident that all men are created
equal
and they’re endowed by their creator
with certain unalienable rights life
liberty and the pursuit of happiness
our founders did not think for a moment
that our rights
came from the government they came from
god
government’s job was simply to protect
the rights not to give them
and that’s unique to us and all of our
early
experiences as a country in america were
based on the judeo-christian worldview
that we are individually responsible to
god
and that we’re not collectivists we’re
individualist and that’s very powerful
because
each of us has our identity not on our
race
not on our gender not on our occupation
but on our relationship to our creator
that’s what a lot of people seem to be
missing today and i hope
that as they stop at the national
archives people will just take note of
that
yes sir well join us
as we watch this video from john rich
[Music]
amazing grace
a rich like me
[Music]
i once was lost
[Music]
twas grace that’s
and grace my fears
how precious did
that grace appear
the hour i first
[Music]
bright shining as
the sun
we’ve known
to see god’s praise
then when we first begun
[Music]
amazing embrace
how sweet the sound
that saved rich
like me
i was lost
but now i’m found
[Music]
i was lost
but now i’m found
[Music]
one of the people that will be joining
my dad at the next stop is pastor
andrew brunson you know many of us
remember that image
when he was just got out of the turkey
prison and he came into the oval office
and prayed with the president united
states
you know he’s in captivity he was in
prison for two years in turkey
and i just interviewed him this summer
and
we’re here for prayer that’s our focus
today and when he was in prison and his
wife noreen would come visit him
he would say are people still praying
for me
or have they forgotten me and she would
say no the world is praying for you and
it would give him hope
and to know that people are praying for
you it brings hope
to people especially in days like this
it’s a great reminder of
of what freedom means right now franklin
graham is being joined by andrew brunson
we’ve just been talking about him also
former congressman frank wolf
and pastor robert morris
we’re here at the national archives
and the focus of our prayers here are
for religious freedom
uh for the boldness pray for the
boldness of the churches
to stand firm with the word of god to
preach jesus in this troubled world
and standing with me are some giants
in this area of religious freedom the
bible says
watch stand fast in the faith be brave
be strong and so coming today to pray
is pastor pastor andrew brunson
evangelical pastor who is held in turkey
for his faith in christ and we just
thank god that
president donald j trump put pressure on
the government there and he was released
and then representative frank wolff
former u.s representative
for virginia he has been a outspoken
advocate for religious freedom
around this world and then to close us
will be pastor robert maher senior
pastor of gateway
church in dallas texas
and so i want to thank these men for
coming and pastor
brunson if you’ll lead us now in prayer
father god i bring before you the words
that you gave us
through the prophet daniel that in the
most difficult times when even the
foundations are shaken
that those who know their god shall
stand
firm and take action so lord i pray
accordingly
that we may be a people who know their
god give us
an impartation of intimacy
give us the gift of hungering after the
living god
so that we may devote ourselves to what
is most important
to make the first thing first which is
to love you with all our heart
soul mind and strength and because of
this love
because we love you that we will stand
unashamed
of identifying with jesus and his
teaching
that without apology we will pledge our
allegiance to the son of god
and to his kingdom i ask also that we be
a people
of right perspective give us heavenly
eyes give us
king demise expose a spirit of fear
give us victory over the spirit of fear
instead may we have a right fear a fear
of god so that we will not
fear those who threaten us here in this
life who threaten to harm us or cancel
us
instead put the fear of god in our
hearts
so that when pressures come we do not
run but stand now i pray
what i prayed so many times for myself
and for my
family when i was in prison father god
pour out on your sons and daughters
proud on us your sons and daughters
the courage the strength the confidence
the boldness
the perseverance the endurance and the
steadfastness of jesus
pour out on us the fullness of jesus
that we may run the race set before us
and finish well a beautiful bride
purified in the fires of faithful
obedience
tested and found worthy of her beloved
of jesus
the king of glory
dear god we know that in your word there
are so many directions that we should be
interested in religious freedom and
standing with a persecuted
we are with this building the national
archives where
three of the most important documents in
our nation’s history are there the
constitution
the bill of rights the declaration of
independence these
are covenants not only with the people
in the united states but their covenants
with the people around the world
dear god we see persecution taking place
in china the catholic church
protestant pastors in jail taking down
crosses
we see uighur muslims in detention camps
almost like the nazis
we see persecution against the buddhists
we see anti-semitism around the world we
see in nigeria genocide
genocide in nigeria so we pray lord
as franklin said you’ll wake up to
church the church will pray and then
lord
the church will speak unfortunately we
hear the sound of silence
from so many pulpits we heard the church
will speak
and then the church will act will boldly
act regardless
of what the cost the church will act and
lord we ask you to bless the congress
both republicans and democratic members
they will come together
in healing a reconciliation elasti lord
we
ask for a renewal for revival for an
awakening for our country we ask and
pray for these things
in jesus name amen
hallelujah lord we pray for the pastors
in america today
we pray god for a holy boldness to come
on the pastors
that they will stand in the pulpits and
declare the word of god
lord as in acts 4 when the holy spirit
came upon them and we know he came in
acts 2 but acts 4 he came again he came
upon them
and it said they spoke the word of god
with boldness
that is our prayer today lord that
pastors will speak
the word of god with boldness and lord
we pray as paul
charged timothy that the pastors would
be instant
in season and out of season that they
would preach
rebuke exhort with all long suffering
god that they would not heap up teachers
to themselves with itching ears
but they would stand strong stand in the
pulpits
do the work of an evangelist fulfill
their ministry god we ask today
that you will anoint the pastors of
america with a fresh
anointing of the holy spirit in jesus
name
amen
you’ve been listening to prayers at the
national archives you’ve heard prayers
from
andrew brunson who was held in a turkish
prison for
two years before he was finally released
thanks to people’s prayers
also frank wolff former congressman of
virginia who’s one of the real
champions of christian who are
persecuted
across the world he has spent a lot of
his time even after his congressional
career helping people around the world
who are persecuted because their faith
in jesus christ
and of course also pastor robert morris
from texas
well there is a reason that the church
needs to keep preaching jesus christ in
a troubled world
truth is he alone is the answer to
life’s
deepest problems you know what a
precious sight it’s been and then we
keep talking about jesus and jesus said
i am the way the truth and the life and
no one comes to the father but
by me and if you were at home
and if you’ve never invited jesus into
your heart and accepted him as your
savior
please listen to this personal
invitation from my father
as you have been watching today of this
prayer march
the only hope for our country is god but
the only hope for you
is god and if you haven’t put your faith
and trust in his son jesus christ
i want you to do that right now you see
god made us he created us but our sins
separated us from god and there’s
there’s nothing that you can do
god has done it he sent his son from
heaven to this earth
to die for your sins he took your sins
and my sins
he went to a cross where he died and
shed his blood
and he was buried for your sins he took
your sins to the grave
but on the third day god raised his son
to life
and if we’re willing to put our faith
and trust in him god will forgive our
sins he’ll heal our hearts
he’ll give us eternal life and if you’ve
never invited christ into your heart i
want you to do it right now just pray
this prayer just say god i’ve sinned
i’m sorry forgive me i believe jesus is
your son
i want to trust him as my savior and i
pray this in jesus name
amen but if you prayed that prayer uh
call that number right now that’s on the
screen we’ve got some people like to
talk with you and pray with you
so call that number and do that right
now god bless you
[Music]
as dad said if you prayed that prayer
or if you have more questions we would
love to hear from you
you can call the number on your screen
or visit
peacewithgod.net but right now
let’s check in with tanya lyon for an
update
thank you so much for on the
opportunity to share what’s happening on
the lawn here and i’m joined by kaylee
kaylee is a liberty university graduate
student and she got on a bus bright and
early this morning
with about 2 200 other students to
participate in this prayer march kaylee
as a graduate student you could have
been doing a lot of things today
what made you decide to come here well
liberty made it affordable like it was
completely free for students to come
i had nothing else going on today so why
not just come take the time to be
unified
with the country and the body and the
christ what has it felt like to you
what have you experienced here it’s just
so much joy
and there’s so much comfortability
knowing that we all are looking towards
the lord right now we’re all just
praying for this country praying for
peace
praying for the hurt and healing and
it’s so nice to not
feel uncomfortable in his surroundings
to know that you’re surrounded by
body believers so i’m hearing you say
that
you don’t get a chance to go everywhere
and share your faith that this is
something that’s unusual and special for
you
tell me more about that well for me the
lord is my hope
you know he’s the light at the end of
the tunnel he’s the light on the darkest
days
he’s all i have he’s like what i cling
to i trust him and to know that his will
is being played out in my life
every single day like without him i’d be
nothing
it was your senior year last year it was
a very strange
season for you for graduating what are
you believing in god
for both for your personal life as well
as for our nation
well it’s been hard especially going
through all these changes but i just
have to trust the lord that
his will is being worked out because i
know his good is my good and whatever i
think is good
isn’t even as close to god’s best so i
just have to keep putting my trust in
him every day that he wants
the best for me kaylee thank you so much
back to you as we continue this coverage
of prayer march 2020.
earth to god

but not for long
[Music]
can you pull us all close to the holy
ghost
and keep
we us your love to heal the world
and save
earth to us
[Music]
birth to god
come in god
earth to god
come in god
[Music]
god we need your light
we need your love to heal the world
[Music]
come in god
[Music]
i’m so glad we got to hear that song by
john rich again earth to god
i’ll be honest with you the first time
it came on i got a text from my wife
she said that’s an amazing song i mean
and it is an amazing song it’s one of
those that
i think i could hear it a hundred times
and i still would be blessed it just
really touches the heart i think it’s
like you said it pulls out the
heartstrings of what we’ve all been
facing this year there’s been lots of
emotions um this year with everything we
faced i don’t even pretend
to try to define 2020 because we still
have quite a few months to go
yes we do we keep having surprises but
that song
just reminds us that god the creator of
the universe he’s not far away
yeah he’s right there exactly where we
are and god meets us where we are
you know i’ve not met anyone who was uh
saying oh i sure wish
2020 would just extend and keep going
nobody’s feeling that
you know we have mentioned several
times your grandfather billy graham
and one of the reasons is because he
played such
a huge role in the spiritual life of our
country
for almost a century we’re watching even
on the screen
some great moments of his life he was
not just a uh
a preacher he was a christian statesman
because it was here at the capitol steps
in 1952 that he preached to a crowd
of 40 000 people and encouraged congress
to establish an annual national day of
prayer
yeah it was in 1952 he was on those
steps it had been a rainy day and it was
called a program
for peace and you would think he was
talking today
we were facing the same exact things
that we were facing then division
the um moral decay of this country right
and he always turned people back to
repentance we have people mocking god
now
we have people in this building behind
us mocking prayer
but here we are coming together
people from all across this country
coming back to those steps right here
and we were bringing
prayer and it’s a great revisit
of those days when billy graham stood on
those steps
and called people to pray and and i
think his legacy
will live on and and one of the ways his
legacy is living on is
obviously through his son franklin
graham the father of
who continues that legacy today we’re
not celebrating so much the graham
family as we are the gospel
that the graham family has consistently
preached whether it’s
your dad your grandfather your brothers
you uh all of the members of your family
who
faithfully continue to serve christ and
this day as we celebrate
and really observe the power of prayer
in our nation
and its influence you really can’t talk
about the spiritual life of america
without bringing up
your grandfather billy graham he has
played such a vital role
in every president’s life since uh harry
truman
but also in helping americans to
understand
the simplicity of the gospel you’re
right it was a simple message
that god loved you so much that he sent
his son jesus christ to die on that
cross
and he was always encouraging this
country to turn
back to god to repent
and how god used him you know i get
emotional i was born
later on in his career if you say so
there was a lot i didn’t see her witness
and i find myself late at night on
youtube watching videos of him learning
from him
still to grab the emotional because god
used his voice
to help bring a hope and a peace to
remind
people that god is sovereign what a
beautiful reminder
all right here’s franklin graham he is
with evangelist am graham lotz
and pastor jack graham we’re going to be
going to them in just a few moments
they are standing by waiting on our cue
we have this beautiful view behind us
of the u.s capitol as the folks are
making
what is the last stop of seven stops it
started at the lincoln memorial
and have followed down all of this
wonderful
national mall uh historic
with so many different monuments and
great facilities to remind us of
our nation’s heritage and history right
now let’s go
down to franklin graham
we’re here in front of our nation’s
capitol and
we want the focus of our prayers to be
for all those that work
in our nation’s capital it’s not just
here but the capitals across
this country the state capitals and for
all those men and women that are in
authority
and so we’ve come here today to ask that
god would
grant wisdom as they make the laws that
affect our lives
and we just pray that if there’s a law
that displeases god
that he would just trouble the hearts of
the lawmakers and
they just won’t pass it he can do that
and he can bring confusion to the enemy
but we pray for unity for those that are
here to serve in the name of the lord
jesus christ
father we pray that you would watch over
protect those that work behind me in
this capital
lead them and guide them and direct them
the bible says blessed is the nation
whose god is the lord we need god’s
blessing
we need his blessing and coming to pray
are
someone that very special to me and
that’s my sister
and graham lotz and angel ministries
and then pastor jack graham of
prestonwood baptist church in dallas
so i’m going to ask my sister ann to
come
and then pastor jack and then i will
close us in prayer
and thank you
thank you franklin so pray with me
please
god of creation god of our fathers
abraham isaac and jacob
george washington john adams abraham
lincoln
god of my father god of our fathers
you are my god and we bow before you now
and we acknowledge you for who you are
you’re the creator god your greatness
none of us can fathom
you brought the world into existence
with just a word
you opened up the red sea so your people
could escape
bondage on dry ground and set them free
you raised jesus from the dead you are
great your greatness has not been
depleted or deluded over the
millennia you are still as great today
as you were at the beginning as you will
be at the end
so we acknowledge you are great we
acknowledge your faithfulness you have
been so
faithful to us to our nation you have
blessed us in the city you’ve blessed us
in the country
you’ve blessed our coming in and are
going out you’ve poured
out your blessing on us but god we have
not
been faithful to you we have turned away
from your commands
we have turned away from your word we
have come up with our own
interpretations of things and following
our own
uh will so lord we we confess before you
our unfaithfulness now think of the
leaders
that have walked the halls of this
capitol building great men and women
who have stood by you and have been
people of integrity who cared about this
nation and now lord
what’s happened to us we’re no longer
the nation and
not led by the people anymore that we’ve
been led by in the past and so we come
to you acknowledging our
unfaithfulness to you the unfaithfulness
of our religious
and our political leaders as well as
ourselves and god we acknowledge you are
righteous
you are right we are wrong we are
sinners and we come before you knowing
that to the cross
teaches us there will be judgment for
sin
and you will not tolerate it so lord god
in this
moment before i believe your judgment
comes in a severe form we come to you
and we acknowledge that we’re sinners
that we’ve done so many wrong things and
we want to say we’re sorry
we’re so sorry lord and we ask please
for your forgiveness and lord that
reminds us to acknowledge that you are
a kind god a loving god a merciful god
in the midst of
wrath you remember mercy so we plead on
your mercy lord we ask please
we know we don’t deserve this but we’re
asking for your blessing
and we don’t want to say it in a trite
way god bless america we
we want to humble ourselves pray seek
your face we want to repent of our sin
that you might hear our prayer forgive
our sin and heal our land
so we come before you now asking that
you would hear
all the prayers that have been prayed on
the mall today oh god
would you hear would you forgive would
you heal
we ask this please for the glory of the
name of jesus the son of god the son of
man
the lion of judah the lamb of god the
redeemer the savior
jesus we pray in his name yeshua amen
and we do agree together we stand
together confident in you lord that when
we pray when we cry out to you
you do hear us in the name the name that
is above every name
the name of the lord jesus christ who
binds us together
lord we believe we trust in you our
hearts are turning to you
revive your church and churches across
this nation
we do pray for those who serve across
this country and legislators
and at this capitol building lord and
i’ve been asked to pray for the supreme
court
and so we pray that in this hour lord
this very epic
hour of history when our president is
about to announce a nominee
we pray for that process we pray for
your will to be done
on earth as it is in heaven and god we
especially pray
for the end of the holocaust that is
abortion in america
we pray that we are at the tipping point
we do pray and repentance with tears
knowing that we have sinned greatly
against you and allowing this thing to
happen
we have been sinfully silent but silent
no more
and god for those who have prayed and
worked and served so hard
over the years we can see the answer
coming
and we pray oh god that you who are the
judge of the universe
the judge of the supreme court of heaven
and earth
that you would rule over all that you
would place an authority in legislators
and in court benches
not only here but across america those
who will seek your wisdom
let them know and trust in you we pray
just
boldly god that each one of them would
come to a personal
faith and trust in jesus christ that may
the cross be exalted in their hearts may
the resurrection
be real in their lives and so bind our
hearts together
and move us not only from this moment
but from
moments forward to be different let us
walk out of here
changed committed to prayer
knowing that when your power falls
nothing can stop it
and we just pray this blessing the lord
bless you
and keep you the lord make his face to
shine upon you
and be gracious to you the lord lift up
his countenance upon you
and give you peace in jesus name
amen
[Music]
thank you ann and pastor jack
i call him cousin jack we’re not ken
but we call him cousin and right now
i’d like for all of us just to i’m gonna
just we’ll just turn and let’s face the
capitol
and let’s raise our hands uh toward the
capitol
and father we pray right now in jesus
name
for the men and women that work there on
capitol hill that make the laws that
affect this nation
father we pray that you would move in
the hearts of those men and women and
father we pray
for the supreme court of this country
and for the pick that the president is
getting ready to announce today
father we pray that that woman will be
your woman
and that she will sit on that bench
to carry out your laws and your
instructions so father we pray this in
jesus name amen
i want to just thank all of you that
have been watching by live stream
uh thank you for being with us today uh
many thousands of people have come from
all over the united states
to participate and to pray
and as we’ve walked across this mall we
have prayed
i’ve been able to meet many people and
everyone has come for the same purpose
and that’s to pray
uh to pray for this country i think
we’re at a crucial point
in this country we’re that close to
losing our nation
and uh there are people that are wanting
to manipulate
the direction of this country and we
just need to pray that god will
intervene
and that’s what we’re here to do to pray
for this country
um god’s judgment
may fall on this one day for what i just
think of
abortion for what what what we have done
as a people
is wrong and we confess that to god and
ask for his forgiveness
we pray that he would turn this country
and turn these laws that
that are that are wicked that he would
turn them another direction
and he can do that and so it’s through
prayer
and we’ve been here today we’ve prayed
we’ve marched across this
uh this great mall and we’re thankful to
god and we give him the glory and we
praise and we thank
all of you that have come and for those
of you that have watched thank you so
very much
god bless
[Applause]
one of my very favorite people is john
rich the country singer and great
country
song writer and he’s written one that is
just fantastic
you’ve done it here today at the prayer
march 2020 called
earth to god one of the best songs i’ve
heard in a long time it’s not a
political song
right it’s about connecting with god
what was the inspiration for that john
you know i i was in nashville quarantine
like everybody else in this country and
i had this thought i wonder when the
last time all of humanity had the same
problem at the same time
i thought probably noah’s flood it’s
probably coming to my mind
and it might be right actually and i
thought you know
we’ve got all this division in our
country and around the world
what unifies us well right now what’s
unifying us is we all have a threat
that’s threatening everybody and we’re
all in this same position
and who created us all god almighty
created the human he created human
beings in his own image he created us
and i thought
man this this thought in my mind came
earth to god
come in god we need to hear from you
almost like as if earth was sending an
sos
off to god and what do we want to hear
god say back to us
this is god come back earth wouldn’t
that be a great response come back to me
please i’m right here you know and that
communication i think is something that
every human being on the planet should
do and somewhere down in there whether
they say they believe in him or don’t
i know it’s down in them that that there
is the truth still there
and so i’ve seen this song earth to god
hit people that i never thought in a
million years would would have a
reaction like they’re having to it
and so to me i’m not really a singer of
a song i’m more delivering a message
i don’t even feel like i wrote it to be
honest with you i feel like it was just
put on me and i grabbed the pencil and
boom there it was it was 30 minutes
a simple very simple lyric very simple
song but i believe it states
uh something very important it is a
prayer i mean it’s not just a song
it is a prayer but it’s not just your
prayer it’s our prayer
everybody can pray this that we are
looking for god to come to earth
and speak to us i think it’s such a
phenomenal
kind of song the first time i heard it i
just thought wow
yeah well you’re the i have to thank you
because you’re the guy that i reached
out to and said
you know i love samaritan’s purse i love
what they do around the world
regardless of who who is in trouble they
just show up and help them
and and that’s what this the spirit of
the song was that that it was for
everybody
and so i reached out to you to say i
don’t know reverend graham i don’t know
anybody there but can you get them this
song and i just want to see if they like
it because
i would love to help samaritan’s purse
with this song and thank you for that
connection that led us to hear today
well i sent it to your dad as well
rest is history he loved it and we’re so
thankful that you’re here today
we know you love this country and the
power of prayer especially through
your song but i saw that you had your
boys out here earlier today
and why is it important for you to bring
your children out here to the national
mall today to see this
i think throughout our country there is
a
a big effort underway to desensitize our
kids
that the fact that god is real and the
fact of how great our country is in our
country allows us to worship him
like we want to and i wanted them to
come to something like this prayer march
to see tens of thousands of their fellow
americans praying for their country
and to understand ultimately guys that
is what you have
man cannot fix mankind’s problems he’s
never been able to do it and he never
will be
able to do it and the only thing you can
do is come together pray to him and say
please help us please fix it
and i wanted my kids to witness that in
person in our nation nation’s capital so
it’s
it’s a very important day for our family
as well well it’s been a beautiful day
so far thank you for joining us today
and really quick where can people find
the song
earth to god is now anywhere you
download your music it could be itunes
apple amazon anywhere earth to god
uh and your all your radio stations have
it now
all of my tithe this is important to
know all of my tithe on earth to god
goes to samaritan’s purse
that’s great so as big as that song is
going to get there’s there’s yeah
we’re supporting back with that so folks
should go download it tell their friends
about it post about it and let everybody
know
thank you for being here stay with us
there’s much more prayer and much more
to come
from the national mall in prayer march
2020
and thank you that song earth to
prayer
earth to god is so incredible and it
just really sums up the
sense that you get when you’re here i’m
here on the national mall
the prayer march is just about over but
as you can see thousands of people
continue to stream by and we believe
that there were as many
as 50 000 people here today
and i was thinking if you’re at home and
you’re you’re
sad because you couldn’t be here today
and you were listening to these bold
prayers and you’re wondering
but how does this impact me i wish i
could have been there but
i couldn’t be there how does it impact
you well our god is a very
personal god and he wants to meet you
right where you are and this is a divine
appointment for you
you heard franklin graham give the call
to salvation earlier you have an
opportunity
to receive jesus into your heart today
and as we
watched people walk by as we listened to
their stories
i’m sure they’re not unlike yours you
might have been scared during this covid
season
we’ve all been afraid but jesus invites
us into a relationship
to cast out our fears and to give us
strength and it’s funny as i’ve been
talking to people today that’s what i’m
sensing i’m sensing
strength i’m sensing courage and
compassion
for one another as brothers and sisters
this has been a very unifying
march a very unifying time and of course
my prayer
and i bet yours is too is that we could
continue that sense of
unity in our country in the days and
weeks to come yes the prayer march 2020
may be wrapping up however it doesn’t
mean that the prayer stops
it means that you can stop at any time
and invite jesus to to pray with you
invite the holy spirit
to pray with you and so i just want to
say thank you for joining us today and i
want to thank the graham
family as well for having the courage
to lead a prayer march like this to lead
our country at such an important
time in our nation’s history and i’m
really believing
that we’ll look back on this march and
we’ll see that god moved
we’ll see that god moved in the hearts
of his people will see
that there has been a shift in our
country towards more unity
towards more peace towards more courage
thank you so much for um the opportunity
to be a part of this coverage
i’m so grateful for um for the beauty
of our nation and that’s what we saw
here today is that our nation
as one people from all parts of the
country people from all parts of the
world
even coming together in prayer and so
i’ll just leave you with a blessing
as we wrap up from the nation’s capital
here on the lawn for our crew
here and for all of us who continue to
stream by
pilgrims really as we’re all on our way
to greater peace
greater health greater compassion
greater love
beginning here and now and may the god
of hope fill you with all joy and peace
as you trust in him so that you may
overflow with hope
by the power of the holy spirit and back
to you
robert morris is the founding and senior
pastor of gateway church in texas pastor
morris great to see you again it’s great
to see you governor
cece great to see you thank you for
being here today pretty spectacular day
out here on the national mall isn’t it
it is fantastic
i mean it’s just incredible to be in the
nation’s capital
praying for our nation you know a lot of
people probably think oh prayer you know
that’s just you just
i’ll lay me down to sleep kind of thing
but when we’re talking about
praying for our nation how much
difference does that even make
well uh you know i love to study i’d
like to be a theologian
and the word intercession i don’t think
a lot of people even know what it means
but there’s an english word that’s very
similar and that’s
intersection it comes from the same root
and it means where two things meet so
when you think about it
prayer is where we meet god
it’s where we lift up a loved one or a
nation a love nation
and we’re intersecting that person we’re
praying for
that nation with god so it’s
huge the opportunity that god gives us
to pray
and you’re talking about praying for our
nation how should we be praying for our
nation what should people at home
be praying for as they’re joining us
today and how to pray for this nation
today
yeah well i think jesus taught us in the
prayer you know
thy will be done so when we’re praying
for god’s will
we know we’re not praying for our
selfish desires our candidate to win
or anything like that we are praying
lord your will be done
on earth as it is in heaven and i think
if we stick to that prayer and then if
we begin to pray
other principles in the bible that we
know
our values in the bible if we pray along
the bible and
what we know about the character and
nature of god then we know
according to first john when we pray
according to his will
that he hears us and we have the
petitions for which we ask
pastor do you think sometimes people
feel that prayer is only
something we do when we’re really
desperate like the old fellow said one
time
well there’s nothing else to do but pray
and somebody said oh has it come to that
i mean why is it that we feel that
that’s last
call prayer well i think we have a long
heritage
you know you look at psalm 106 and
you’ve got uh the nation of israel would
get into trouble
and then they would call out god and god
would deliver them and it goes and
every verse says oh that men would give
thanks to the lord
and then they get in trouble and then
they call out to god he delivers them oh
that men will give thanks
i think what he’s saying is oh that you
just pray every now and then when you’re
not in trouble
if we could just have a conversation
yeah but again we are
the link for some reason god decided
to partner with us and gives us an
ability
it’s like moses lifted the rod and god
parted the water
you know david slung the stone but god
made it hit exactly where it needed to
for a giant
so we get to participate with god and
that’s what prayer is
it is a privilege to be able to pray to
god but pastor thank you for joining us
today thank you for joining dad here
there’s more ahead as prayer march 2020
continues
stay with us
[Music]
light has come into the world but men
loved darkness instead of light because
their deeds were evil
there’s a world out there that needs to
know this wonderful news of god’s love
[Music]
we need to be the light of the world
we’ve got an opportunity
to make a difference we’re to take our
faith wherever we go in life
and we’re to live it
we’re not just to take our light and
hide it under a bushel we’re to set it
up so
the whole world will see it
knows my dad was just talking in that
video
that we’re to be a light in this world
that we’re to stand
boldly and unashamed of the gospel and i
hope today’s event
has been an encouragement to you to
stand boldly
to live out your faith in all aspects of
life
no matter where god calls you we talk
about mission fields yes i’ve
gone with my dad all around the world to
different mission fields
and i think sometimes my greatest
mission field is my kitchen table
around my with my children that children
are olive shoots around our table
but wherever god has called you that is
your mission field
that you are to be a light in that world
and we look at what
when the world is dark which it is right
now what light
can do and what one light and governor
you were just telling me on break
a beautiful story about my grandfather
in the light
well it it happened back in 1972
it was an extraordinary moment
explo 72 is an event older christians
might remember it was
christian woodstock campus crusade for
christ
build it as a youth evangelism happening
and a hundred thousand young people from
all over the world came to dallas
for evangelism training and on the final
night
dr billy graham was the featured speaker
and as we came to the cotton bowl
everyone was given a little candle and
told to hold on
he preached that night on being the
light of the world and let your light
shine i’ll never forget it it was such
a powerful message but when he came to
the conclusion
he talked about that it was not just
somebody else’s light it was yours and
at that moment
all of the lights in the cotton bowl
were turned off every single one it was
pitch black
and then on the stage your grandfather
lit that candle that he had he turned to
bill bright the head of campus crusade
for christ
and he lit his candle now there were two
then they turned to two other people
then two became four and four
eight and eight sixteen and pretty soon
just in a very short period of time
every
candle in that cotton bowl was
illuminating
the sky a hundred thousand candles
it was so magnificent that people who
lived around the cotton bowl were
calling the dallas fire department to
report
the cotton bowl is on fire well
truthfully it was on fire but not the
way they were thinking
but here’s what i remember yes the
magnificence of a hundred thousand
candles that was
pretty powerful but what i remember even
more
was that his your grandfather spoke and
he lit his candle i was 100 yards away
and sitting up in the nosebleed section
but with the lights turned off the tiny
little candle that he held in his hand
pierced the darkness now let me tell you
what that meant for me i’m a kid that
was a nobody
i had i’m the first male in my entire
family lineage to ever graduate high
school nobody upstream for me had ever
gotten out of high school
so here i am this kid from a little town
nobody had ever heard of
i’m with a hundred thousand people
there’s only eight thousand people in my
whole hometown
more people were standing in line at the
bathroom than were even
you know in my whole city
and i remember it was as if god
dismissed everybody else
and he said when things are really dark
even a little bit of light can change
the world and that message from your
grandfather
was a seminal event in my life
wow as i sit here and tell you about it
it’s still
is very emotional for me to remember
what we’ve seen today
that’s what it’s been every person out
here marching the tens of thousands
they’re light we talk about how bad
things are in america but can i tell you
something
the darker it gets the more valuable
the more powerful your light
will be what a pleasure it has
been to be with you today
