George Beverly Shea (1909-2013). See how God turned this simple hymn song singer into the instrument to prepare the hearts of those to receive the Gospel message from Billy Graham. http://www.georgebeverlysheamemorial.org
bev shea has been associated with me
since 1944 and the work of evangelism
you know when Bev sings he actually
sings a sermon when he finishes singing
I never feel like applauding I feel like
bowing my head in prayer vacum of 1943 I
had a little program called him from the
chapel at the BMV I where I was located
and young man out of Wheaton College let
him go to Graham give me to tell me that
he was listening in the mornings but he
could from his room at Wheaton and he I
just thought there was a very unusual
young man that’s how the acquaintance
shook began
Oh Lord my god
when I awesome wonder consider all
thy hands of me
I see the scars I hear in 1966 I had
their provision going with mr. Graham
with cliff barrows Ted Smith – beaten
Vietnam it was Christmas time one of
those fellas waiting for haircut said
sing he said he’s singing How Great Thou
art
no accompaniment no I want over there I
said next like Christmas tree and did
the best I could I tell you that’s
outstanding in my memory I was so
touched by that
when we started out the people came to
hear Bev chasing they didn’t call him
George Beverly Shea in those days he
didn’t have such a distinguished title
they just called him bed Shea and they
would come to hear Bev Shea sing and
this is the truth that having all the
advertising big letters Beverly Shea
then way down then small letters Billy
Graham will preach I suppose Bev has won
every award clip didn’t have time to
read all the awards that he’s won in
music but he is certainly the greatest
gospel singer of this century
sometimes in a song ministry the
unexpected happens they were doing a
segment of this film 75 miles north of
Los Angeles about 15 feet above the
Pacific
they had me on a nice dry rock but the
waves were elsewhere funny and I started
saying how big is God how big and wide
his vast domain and a freak wave came
and got me completely
little light of mine I’m gonna let it
shine this little light of mine
I feel a shyness
next time the job
I don’t know shal no I’m fine our
initial no I’ve ever dated
– nine that it
this is the light of mine
sometimes this is all mine
childish our nation
let it slide
I’m a child
I don’t know why anyone would ever ask
how do you wish to be remembered
I just simple psalm singer other
privileges singing a little song before
mr. graham speaks for all these years
and I I think I just like to say that I
hope they’ll remember that I stayed on
pitch
